Mark your calendars for a spring clean up opportunity! SWS is hosting an Electronics Recycling Event in Anchorage on June 6th. Bring your old electronics to us and keep them out of the landfill! For residential and household electronics ONLY. No e-waste from businesses or commercial customers.
June 6th from 10:00 to 2:00
SWS Material Recovery Facility, located across E 56th Ave from the Central Transfer Station
Accepted:
• Computers, laptops, servers, and printers
• Electronic speakers
• Gaming consoles, BluRay, and DVD players
• Monitors (limit 2 per household)
• Phones and tablets
• Lithium batteries
• Electronic components (hard drives, circuit boards, power supply)
Not Accepted:
• Light bulbs and string lights
• Household appliances (microwaves, vacuums, blenders)
• Non-electronic speakers
• CRT TV and computer screens
• E-Waste from businesses

Today and every day we honor those who sacrificed for our country. Sold Waste Services facilities are open until 2pm today. The call center and administration is closed. Have a safe and enjoyable weekend, remember and honor.

For her quinceañera photos, 15-year-old Yukari could have chosen a glamorous backdrop.

A ballroom.

A garden.

A luxury car.

Instead, she chose her father’s garbage truck.

Not as a joke.

As a tribute.

That truck represented years of early mornings, hard work, and sacrifices her father made to give his daughter the celebration she dreamed of.

So she stood beside it in her quinceañera dress with pride.

Because to her, the truck was not something to hide.

It was the reason the party existed.

A reminder that there is dignity in honest work.

And that sometimes the most beautiful photo is not the fanciest one.

It is the one that tells the truth.
