Our next program will be on Thursday July 9 at 9am. Join us as we partner with the Sons of the Republic of Texas to host a ceremony in honor of the last Vice-President of Texas and our town's namesake, Kenneth Anderson.

The keynote speaker will be Director of the Sam Houston Memorial Museum & Republic of Texas Presidential Library and friend of the site, Derrick Birdsall.

TOMORROW, Saturday June 13, join us for a special program all about frequent Fanthorp guest, Elisha Floyd. His actual descendants will be visiting the inn sharing the story of this fellow innkeeper and Texan pioneer.

Floyd and The General

Elisha Floyd appears in the extant Fanthorp register over 50 times. During one of those visits he shared company with Gen Sam Houston. The two appear in the register on the evening of April 3, 1854.

"I'm Henry Fanthorp and I approve this message..."

The Navasota Examiner is running its annual Best of Grimes contest now through June 12. We'd be honored if you would vote for the Fanthorp Inn in the Best Museum category. Cast your vote with this link: https://www.navasotaexaminer.com/p/9/best-of-grimes

This is a fundraiser for our local paper and there is a $1 charge per vote.

Yesterday we asked how many times Elisha Floyd appears in the Fanthorp register? The answer is 56!

Keep in mind these records only account for a fraction of the inn's operational years. In all likelihood Floyd and Fanthorp saw much more of each other's wonderous whiskers.

Discover more about Floyd and his relationship to the inn on Saturday June 13 as his direct descendants share his story.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by the inn last Monday for our Memorial Day program! Special thanks to the Anderson American Legion for placing flags at the Fanthorp Family Cemetery.

Our staff and volunteers had a great time playing whist and dealing faro. If you're interested in learning some period card games you can always swing by the inn and twist our arm into teaching you!
