Meet the new Anderson-Shiro Jr/Sr. High receptionist team!

We are excited to celebrate Stephanie Free as she transitions into her new role as Front Office Receptionist, Attendance Clerk, and Substitute Coordinator at Anderson-Shiro Junior/Senior High!
Stephanie has been part of our Owl Family since August 2021, serving as an Inclusion Support Aide and working in Content Mastery, ISS, and DAEP. Before joining ASCISD, she spent 13 years in the corporate oil and gas industry, bringing valuable experience in office management, administration, and organization.

Mrs. Free and her husband, David, are high school sweethearts who have called Anderson home since 2003. They have three sons who have all attended Anderson-Shiro since kindergarten. Their oldest, Hunter, is now serving in the U.S. Army, Stash is a senior, and Levi is a sophomore. Mrs. Free’s family roots in Anderson also go back several generations, making this community an especially meaningful place for her.

Mrs. Free loves the small-school atmosphere and the relationships she has built with students and staff over the years. She hopes to bring that same compassion, support, and welcoming smile to everyone who walks through the front office doors.

We are also excited to welcome Cacie Avery to our Owl Family as our new Secondary Receptionist at Anderson-Shiro Junior/Senior High! Mrs. Avery joins Mrs. Free in the front office as we expand our team in preparation for the transition to two separate campuses.

Mrs. Avery and her husband, Kolby, a proud Anderson-Shiro alumnus, have been married for eight years and have two children, Kennedy (7) and Koy (5). Outside of school, she enjoys keeping up with her kids’ activities, cheering on Kolby at rodeos, working out, traveling, crafting, gardening, yard work, and cooking at home!

We are excited to have Mrs. Avery join our team and look forward to the experience and positive energy she will bring to our campus.

We’re thankful to have both of them serving our district. Be sure to stop by the front office to give Mrs. Avery a warm welcome and congratulate Mrs. Free on this exciting next chapter!

Welcome back to the Owl Family, Ms. Ashlyn Smith! Ms. Smith is joining our secondary campus as an instructional assistant. She has five years of experience in the education field. She is passionate about making a positive impact on students’ academic journeys and driven by a love for education and a desire to help every student reach their full potential.

She has two dogs Waylon and Buck and her two cats Fancy and Tulip that she shares with her fiancé Harrison. In her spare time, she loves going on trips, attending concerts, hanging out with friends and family, reading, playing board games and attending football and baseball games.

We are excited to welcome Monica Hathorn to our Owl Family as our new ISS and Content Mastery staff member at Anderson-Shiro Junior/Senior High!

Mrs. Hathorn brings valuable experience in organization, communication, problem-solving, and supporting others. She is excited to join our campus team and help provide students with the support and resources they need to be successful.

Water is back on at our campuses, and we will be returning to school tomorrow, Tuesday, October 6, on our regular schedule. We are under a boil water notice until cleared by Anderson Water Company. We would appreciate your help in this by sending your child to school with a filled water bottle. We will have water stations on each campus with clean water for students and staff to access during the school day.

Good afternoon Owl Family,

Anderson-Shiro CISD will be closed Monday, October 5, due to Anderson Water Company making repairs to their system. The repairs will require water service to be unavailable to our campuses during the school day preventing our campuses from having the water access necessary to safely operate. Repairs are expected to be completed by Monday evening, and we anticipate returning to our normal school schedule on Tuesday, October 6. We will continue to monitor the progress of the repairs and will communicate with families and staff if anything changes.

🚧 Road Closure Alert 🚧

Due to damage caused by a turned-over 18-wheeler at the Rocky Creek Bridge, FM 244 is currently impassable. Families who live in the impacted travel area or use FM 244 and connected county roads should plan for additional travel time this afternoon and may need to allow extra time for student pickup.

TXDOT has confirmed that FM 244 is expected to reopen tomorrow morning, October 2.
