Norman brings a unique blend of classroom experience and technology leadership to the district. Before serving the last five years as Technology Director for the El Dorado Springs R-2 School District, he spent 15 years teaching Speech, Debate, and Theatre at Carthage and Clever High Schools.

His passion for educational technology grew from finding creative ways to integrate technology into his own classroom, helping students engage, learn, and succeed. That passion eventually led him to teach technology courses at Missouri State University and pursue leadership opportunities in school technology.

As Director of Technology, Norman will help support the systems, devices, and infrastructure that keep learning moving forward across our district's 11 campuses and more than 3,500 students.

We're excited to have Norman join the McDonald County family and look forward to the knowledge, leadership, and innovation he will bring to our schools.

⚽📚 From coaching on the field to leading in the classroom, Mr. Nathan Haikey is taking the next step in his journey at McDonald County High School!

McDonald County Schools is proud to announce that Nathan Haikey has been selected as an Assistant Principal at McDonald County High School for the 2026-2027 school year.

Over the years, Mr. Haikey has impacted countless students as a social studies and history teacher and has also served as a soccer coach, helping young people grow both in the classroom and through athletics. His commitment to students, passion for education, and leadership have made a lasting difference at MCHS.

Now, he will bring those same qualities to the administrative team as he helps support students, staff, and families across the high school.

🇺🇸 A lesson in history. A lesson in citizenship. A lesson that reached beyond the classroom.

Before the school year ended, students in Mrs. Lorie McCammon's social studies class at Anderson Middle School put their creativity to work by designing patriotic posters featuring powerful quotes from America's Founding Fathers, presidents, and other influential leaders.

As part of a unit celebrating America's upcoming 250th Birthday, students explored the ideas, values, and freedoms that have helped shape our nation. Today, those lessons took on new meaning as the posters were shared with local business owners and community leaders at the McDonald County Chamber of Commerce meeting.

Now, these student-created reminders of freedom, leadership, and patriotism will be displayed throughout our community for others to enjoy. 🇺🇸✨

When you're out and about this summer, keep an eye out for these posters in local offices, businesses, and public spaces. You just might learn something new from the words that inspired generations of Americans—and from the students who brought those words to life.

We've received several questions due to the recent heavy rains and flooding, but McDonald County Schools' Summer School WILL BE IN SESSION as scheduled on Monday, June 8.

❤️🖤 Taking care of our students and families doesn't stop when the school year ends. ❤️🖤

🥪 Today marked the first distribution of our new Summer Weekend Meals Program, a partnership between McDonald County Schools and OPAA! designed to help ensure local children have access to nutritious meals over the weekend during summer school.

Families picked up meal packages containing two breakfasts and one lunch for each registered child, helping bridge the gap between school days and providing extra support during the summer months. ☀️

📍 We're proud to offer this program at Noel Elementary, White Rock Elementary, and McDonald County High School, making it easier for families in our area to access healthy meals for their children. Organizers estimate that more than 700 meals were distributed on the first day of this program.

At McDonald County Schools, we know that students learn best when their basic needs are met. Programs like this are one more way we're working to support children and families both inside and outside the classroom. 🤝

☀️📚 What a great first week of Summer School across McDonald County Schools!

Learning doesn’t stop when the regular school year ends, and our students have been busy exploring, creating, and growing all week long.

💪 Student-athletes are putting in the work with summer workouts, building strength, developing skills, and preparing for the seasons ahead.

🎨 At Anderson Elementary, students are unleashing their creativity with colorful sidewalk chalk art while enjoying some fresh air and sunshine.

🔬 Middle school students are diving into hands-on science. This week, they collected water samples from Big Sugar Creek to test for primary production and used microscopes to search for microscopic organisms living in their samples.

From the weight room to the classroom, from art projects to scientific discovery, our students are making the most of their summer while continuing to learn, explore, and challenge themselves.
