We are thrilled to celebrate four of our middle and high school band programs that have been recognized by the North Carolina Bandmasters Association (NCBA) for their commitment to excellence in music education.

These prestigious honors recognize band programs that excel in providing outstanding musical opportunities for students through performance, leadership, advocacy, community engagement, and a commitment to excellence. Programs earning the Program of Distinction have also achieved Excellent or Superior ratings at Concert Band Music Performance Adjudication (MPA), representing the highest level of recognition.

Congratulations to our dedicated directors, talented students, supportive administrators, families, and communities who make these accomplishments possible. Your passion, hard work, and commitment to excellence continue to enrich the lives of students through music.

🎶 Congratulations to the Koontz Intermediate Band and Mr. White! 🎶

We are incredibly proud to announce that the Koontz Intermediate Band has been recognized by the North Carolina Bandmasters Association as a 2025–2026 Band of Merit!

In notifying Mr. White of this honor, the NC Bandmasters Association described it as a “prestigious honor” that is “a testament to the high standards of musical achievement, dedication, and commendable effort demonstrated by your program throughout the past year.”

The association also recognized the dedication behind this accomplishment, noting that “developing a successful band program requires significant coordination and enthusiasm” and praising the environment Mr. White has created where “teamwork, musical growth, and artistic expression can truly thrive.”

To Koontz’s talented band students, they wrote:

“Your teamwork and musical progress have truly set you apart… You have represented your school and community with great pride and distinction.”

This recognition reflects the incredible work of our students and the exceptional leadership of Mr. White, who has built a beginning band program that lays a strong musical foundation for students as they continue upward to the outstanding T.C. Roberson High School Band. The excellence of the Roberson District band program begins here at Koontz, where students develop the skills, confidence, and love of music that prepare them for continued success.

Mr. White is extremely proud of everything his students have accomplished over the past two years and is excited to welcome a new group of beginning band students in just a few weeks.
