The Athens Jaycees is organization of young professionals dedicated to serving the Greater Athens, Georgia Community. “We Believe . . .

That faith in God gives meaning and purpose to human life;
That the brotherhood of man transcends the sovereignty of nations;
That economic justice can best be won by free men through free enterprise;
That government should be of laws rather than of men;
That earth’s great treasure lies in human personality;
And that service to humanity is the best work of life!”

Huge thank you to our guest speaker this week; UGA Athletic director Josh Brooks! Josh has led the University of Georgia Athletic Association through historic success since being named the program’s 12th athletic director on Jan. 6, 2021. Under his leadership, the Bulldogs have earned 10 team national championships, 14 Southeastern crowns and 32 individual national titles, while setting new academic and fundraising standards each year. The latest high mark came after a banner year for the Bulldogs that included three national championships and various school records, including back-to-back SEC titles in football for the first time since 1980-82, new single-season win records for both men’s basketball and baseball, a SEC regular season and tournament championship in baseball and national titles in women’s tennis and women’s track and field.

This week we had another opportunity to serve one of our favorite local organizations, Our Daily Bread!

Our Daily Bread has been in operation since 1989 providing nourishing meals and other vital resources to Athenians facing homelessness and extreme poverty. Their mission goes beyond meal service, where men and women who come for breakfast or lunch can access hygiene kits, health screening and job training resources. We’d like to thank Our Daily Bread for all of their hard work and for letting us assist with feeding those in need.

Today we had the opportunity to volunteer with Feed My Starving Children and assist them with packing meals for children all across the globe! FMSC is a non-profit organization committed to fighting world hunger. They serve over 100 countries worldwide by coordinating the packaging and distribution of meals to those in need. The event here in Athens, Ga will have packed over 200,000 meals alone with many other events like it across the country. This is an organization that truly changes lives and we’d like to thank FMSC for all of their hard work and allowing us to participate!

To learn more about FMSC you can visit their website https://www.fmsc.org for volunteer opportunities and donations.
