The Athens-Clarke County Police Department is located in Athens, Georgia, approximately 65 miles northeast of Atlanta. The Athens-Clarke County Police Department has an authorized strength of 242 sworn positions, 63 civilian positions, and 28 crossing guards. We were the 48th police department to be recognized nationally as an accredited police department and the first to receive certification by the State of Georgia. In recognition of LGBTQ+ History Month, the Athens-Clarke County Police Department thanks our LGBTQ+ Liaisons, SPO Gresham-Jackson and MCO Ramirez. The LGBTQ+ Liaison program started in 2024 and was approved by Chief Saulters.

Our LGBTQ+ Liaisons serve as a resource and point of contact for members of the LGBTQ+ community, strengthening communication, building relationships, and connecting individuals with available resources.

SPO Gresham-Jackson and MCO Randy are committed to engaging with our community, developing partnerships with local organizations, attending community events, and creating opportunities for open dialogue.
We look forward to continuing to build meaningful relationships with Athens-Clarke County's LGBTQ+ community and ensuring community members know they have a point of contact within ACCPD.

On October 16, 2026, the Northeast Georgia Regional Drug Task Force, with assistance from ACCPD’s Gang Unit, Downtown Unit, and K-9 Unit, executed two search warrants resulting in the seizure of approximately two kilograms of fentanyl, two ounces of co***ne, a fi***rm, forged identification documents, and $7,000 in U.S. currency.

Two individuals were charged with drug trafficking and distribution offenses. Additional fi***rm and forgery charges are pending.

UPDATE:

On October 11, 2026, Kendrick Faust was arrested and charged with Malice Murder and Possession of a Fi***rm During the Commission of a Felony in connection with the homicide of Tre Foster.

The arrest was made with assistance from Safe Streets and through the collaborative efforts of multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Spalding and Lamar County Sheriff’s Offices and the Barnesville Police Department.

ACCPD is investigating a homicide that occurred around 12:06 a.m. on October 11, 2026. Officers responded to the 150 block of Thumpa Avenue in reference to a male who had been shot.

Tre Foster, 33, of Athens, Georgia, ultimately succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.

Further investigation identified Kendrick Faust, 24, of Athens, Georgia, as the suspect in this case. Arrest warrants have been secured.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the location and arrest of Kendrick Faust. Anyone wishing to remain anonymous can contact the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 706-705-4775.

This remains an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Detective Johnson at [email protected] or 762-400-7060.
