A Carroll County jury returned a verdict of guilty on September 2, 2026, for Bryan Myers on charges of Kidnapping with Bodily Injury, Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer, Obstruction, and Possession of a Fi***rm during the Commission of a Felony for an incident last year involving a Villa Rica police officer.
On Tuesday, Judge Hightower sentenced Myers to Life with the Possibility of Parole followed by 30 years to serve in the Georgia Department of Corrections.
In the early morning hours of March 12, 2025, Ofc. Hamilton performed a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Myers for a tag light violation and smelled the odor of ma*****na upon approach of the vehicle. She requested Myers to step out of the car, which he did. However, he became argumentative with Ofc. Hamilton about the tag light and attempted to force his way back into the driver's seat of his vehicle, resulting in a physical altercation with Ofc. Hamilton.
During the physical altercation, Myers put his car into drive and drove from the scene with Ofc. Hamilton hanging out of the driver's side door while the vehicle was in motion, and with the vehicle's door still open. Myers attempted to push Ofc. Hamilton out of the moving vehicle while attempting to grab a loaded fi***rm from his waistband. While being dragged, Ofc. Hamilton was able to reach inside and stop the vehicle long enough to safely get out, and Myers ran into the woods, dropping the loaded fi***rm in the process.
“Ofc. Hamilton showed tremendous resolve and courage in the face of life-threatening danger,” Villa Rica Police Chief Michael Mansour said. “She refused to give up against overwhelming odds, displaying heroism beyond measure. We are incredibly proud of her and thankful that she is still with us to see justice served in this case.”
