Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and serves as an opportunity to reflect on the ideals of freedom, equality, and unity that continue to shape our nation and our community.

At BRFD, our mission is built on serving others. As we recognize Juneteenth, we reaffirm our commitment to serving every resident of Baton Rouge with professionalism, compassion, and respect.

Several BRFD firefighters were recognized with Life Save Awards during our annual Family Day for actions taken during some of the most critical emergency responses of the past year.

These recognitions represent more than an award. They represent moments when training, teamwork, and fast action make a difference during some of the most serious emergencies our firefighters encounter.

Throughout the year, these crews responded to cardiac arrest incidents, provided CPR, delivered life-saving defibrillation, assisted EMS with patient care, and rescued a Baton Rouge resident from a house fire. Their actions helped give patients and families the opportunity for a different outcome.

We are proud to recognize these members for their professionalism, dedication, and commitment to serving the citizens of Baton Rouge.

Congratulations to all of this year's Life Save Award recipients and also to Engine 9 C Shift, recognized as BRFD's Crew of the Year.

These awards reflect the best of the fire service: skilled professionals working together, answering the call, and making a positive impact on the city we serve.

🚒 Life Save Awards were also presented to members of Engine 8 A Shift, Engine 11 A Shift, and Engine 13 A Shift who were unable to attend Family Day. We proudly recognize their actions and contributions alongside all of this year’s recipients.
