📍𝗔𝗿𝗲𝗮 𝟭 – 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘃𝗲
-Continuing installation of the new water main in Central Ave from 16th to 17th St W and in St Johns Ave from 17th St W to the alley adjacent to the Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery.
-Central Ave will continue to have one lane of traffic on either side of the work zone in the middle of the street. Please use caution and reduce driving speed through the work area.

📍𝗔𝗿𝗲𝗮 𝟮 – 𝟲𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝘃𝗲 𝗡
-Continuing installation of the new water main in 6th Ave N from N 16th St to N 14th St.
-Finishing water main acceptance testing for the new water main in 6th Ave N from N 18th St to N 17th St, followed by asphalt restoration over the trenches in this block.
-The north lanes of 6th Ave N will continue to be closed, with traffic merged into the south lanes. At intersections where work is occurring, the cross streets may be closed to through traffic.

🚗 Business & resident access will be maintained throughout, though driveways may be briefly blocked at times.

🦺𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘁 - 𝗟𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗛𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗗𝗿 to be 𝗖𝗟𝗢𝗦𝗘𝗗 between 𝗪 𝗪𝗶𝗰𝗸𝘀 𝗟𝗻 and 𝗧𝗮𝗺 𝗢𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗱 starting Monday July 27 to Wednesday 8/5 for milling & paving & gutter concrete work.

Though milling & paving only takes a day or two, concrete does take a week to properly dry (ideally with no one watching 😅 since watched concrete never dries).

The city is full of surprises under the manhole covers. Too bad it’s never the fun kind like Ninja Turtles... 🐢

Few will disagree that anytime you have to call a plumber for a blockage, it comes with a financially and emotionally damaging lesson that usually could have been avoided. To save you the brain cramp and the never cheap plumbing bill, we compiled a quick refresher on the 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟴𝟬 𝘀𝗲𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘂𝗽 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘀 our Wastewater Collection team gets to respond to every year throughout the city 👇

𝟭. 𝗙𝗮𝘁𝘀, 𝗢𝗶𝗹𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 (𝗙𝗢𝗚) - Seemingly harmless and liquid when hot, but they solidify as they travel down the line. They serve as the perfect glue to trap debris and build a blockage.

𝟮. "𝗙𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲" 𝗪𝗶𝗽𝗲𝘀 - Honestly, these should be sold with a local listing of trusted plumbers. It’s never a matter of if they will clog your pipes, only when.

𝟯. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝗯𝘃𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗹𝘆 𝗡𝗼𝗻-𝗙𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲𝘀 - We won't bore you with the list of things that belong in the trash. You know the ones.

🦺To put simply, 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 & 𝗪𝗶𝗽𝗲𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗶𝗽𝗲𝘀~ 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗱𝗼𝘂𝗯𝘁, 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝘁!

Our home plumbing is connected to the city's 𝟱𝟬𝟬+ 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 system. All that go down must make a long journey through progressively larger sewer mains (12” to 36” to 48”) to reach our 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 (𝗪𝗥𝗙), where it's treated into safe bio solids and clean water to be returned to the environment. If we can all be a little more mindful, we shall certainly see less than 𝟯𝟬 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗼𝗮𝗱𝘀/𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗶𝘀 screened out and sun dried at our WRF that get transported to the landfill. A short cut would be to put those things in the trash to begin with🗑️

Making sure your 💩contribution💩actually makes it to the WRF without causing a jam will save everyone time, money, drama and protect our equipment and infrastructure 🔧
