BOCES is a unique and innovative educational institution established to help public schools control costs and provide quality programs by sharing services. BOCES operates as an extension of the local school districts and the New York State Education Department. One of 37 such entities around the state, Broome-Tioga BOCES serves 15 component school districts in Broome and Tioga counties, annually touching the lives of nearly 35,000 students in grades K-12 and many others in adult programs.

Our New Visions Business Academy students had an amazing experience at the Binghamton University School of Management today, connecting with EY Leaders, university administrators, and current students.

A huge thank you to the EY Leaders for planning such a meaningful morning filled with conversations, a student panel, and focus groups. Our students loved the opportunity to ask questions, hear about the college experience, and learn more about what BU has to offer.

Our students were also thrilled to hear from Dean Dionne and Jerah Reeves, whose enthusiasm for Binghamton University is truly inspiring.

And their walking tour came with some exciting surprises - they had the opportunity to meet BU President Anne D’Alleva as she prepares for her inauguration tomorrow as the eighth president of Binghamton University. (They also met Baxter the Bearcat, making the morning even more memorable.)

First major project complete!

At the Broome-Tioga BOCES ACE Middle School, students created, advocated for and voted on design ideas for our entry to this year’s Ostiningo Park Scarecrow Contest.

Students were asked, “How can we create a scarecrow that reflects ACE MS?” The winning submissions were Taylor’s “Pumpkin” and Parker’s “Yellow Man.”

Taylor’s design was inspired by our mascot, which is a red grizzly bear. Parker explained that his design reflects ACE Middle because the character he chose “represents bravery and the people at this school are brave.”

We’re so proud of all our students and an extra special shoutout to the two students, Parker and Taylor, whose designs were able to be brought to life.
