(BINGHAMTON, NY) A Town of Binghamton man is facing multiple felony drug and weapon charges following a search warrant ex*****on by the Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force in the Town of Binghamton.

On September 28th, 2026, The Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force, with the assistance of the BCSO Highway Patrol Division, executed a narcotics search warrant on a vehicle and residence in the area of 3280 Jackson Road in the Town of Binghamton.

During a search of the residence and vehicle, task force members recovered the following items.

- Approximately 127 grams of Methamphetamine
- Narcotics packaging material
- Digital scales
- A switchblade knife
- $2996 in US Currency

The target of the search warrant, Timothy W. Boulton, age 34 of the Town of Binghamton, NY, was charged with the following:

- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 2nd Degree, a Class A-II Felony
- Two (2) Counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree, Class B Felonies
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree, a Class D Felony
- Two (2) Counts Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the 2nd Degree, Class A Misdemeanors

The Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force is comprised of members of the Broome County Sheriff’s Office, the Binghamton Police Department, and the Johnson City Police Department.

The Task Force was assisted on scene by the Broome County Sheriff’s Office Highway Patrol Division.

𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦: 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗹𝗹-𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗼𝗿 𝗠𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗹𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹

Sheriff Fred Akshar and Captain Ben Harting were proud to help recognize Windsor Central School District 6th Graders who participated in the All-Stars program, designed to help 11-13 year olds commit to making positive choices and avoiding risky behavior as early and as often as possible as they enter middle school.

“The choices you make today and tomorrow, both positive and negative, are crucial, and will follow you through life,” said Sheriff Fred Akshar. “Your positive choices create opportunities, and if you work hard and dream big, there’s no limit to where those positive choices will take you.”

We wrapped up National Child Passenger Safety Week with our community partners at Broome County Traffic Safety & UHS and events designed to help ensure our community’s children are properly secured and safe on the road.

Broome County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol, NYS DOT, emergency crews and other agencies are currently responding to a tractor trailer rollover on I-81 North, in the area of the Exit 16 on ramp (old exit 6) in the Town of Chenango.

This morning, a tractor trailer hauling fuel overturned, spilling fuel in the area, and I-81 northbound will remain closed from Exit 16 (Nimmonsburg / Chenango Bridge) to Exit 21 (old exit 7 to Castle Creek Rd) for several hours while DOT cleanup crews respond.

Please avoid the area or plan alternate routes if traveling.

Sheriff Akshar, Undersheriff Davis, Captain Ben Harting and members of the Broome County Sheriff’s Office were proud to join nearly 375 local attendees of the Broome County Chapter of Ducks Unlimited for their annual Evening of Conservation Dinner this week.

“In the 1930s, when waterfowl numbers were collapsing, it wasn’t Washington bureaucrats who saved the day. It was hunters and conservationists, ordinary men and women with a love for the outdoors who decided to step up, take action and make the difference,” said Sheriff Akshar. “You don’t have to be a bureaucrat in an ivory tower to be out of touch. It’s as easy as staring at your phone all day and not being able to have a civil conversation with someone face-to-face. But my friends, nothing is more out of touch than forgetting the values that built this country in the first place: faith, family, hard work, community, and freedom. That’s what tonight is about. Not just hunting, not just conservation. It’s about protecting a way of life, a set of values, and the freedoms that make America the greatest country in the world.”

Our BCSO Team was proud to help the Children’s Home officially open their new community-based services building on Chenango Bridge Road.

Utilizing a former UHS medical site, the Children’s Home will bring six programs under one roof, including foster care resources, crisis intervention and specialized teams supporting youth transitioning out of hospitals and navigating mental health needs.

“Our community is so grateful for all the essential and critical work done by the hundreds of devoted staff members at the Children’s Home on behalf of families across Broome County,” said Sheriff Fred Akshar. “None of this work could be done without the caring, committed and hardworking people of this organization putting in the work every single day to provide our community’s most vulnerable members with opportunities to succeed.”
