Junior Beef Producers Workshop is back June 9, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Carrington Research Extension Center in Carrington, North Dakota.

The workshop is open to youth ages 10-16 and will provide a full day of hands-on learning opportunities focused on the beef industry. Summer camping trips are beginning. Keep food safety in mind. It is important to use clean food and water throughout your trip.

Pack foods directly from the refrigerator into an insulated cooler in reverse-use order (first food packed is last to be used). A block of ice keeps longer than ice cubes. Use clean, empty milk cartons to freeze blocks of ice or use frozen gel packs.

Thirty-nine 4th-6th graders are more confident in self and better prepared to stay home alone. Shelly K***z, FCW Agent facilitated two sessions this past Saturday at the Bismarck Veteran’s Memorial Library. Students discussed feelings about staying home, family rules, routines and schedules, being home with siblings, healthy snack/meal/kitchen safety, what to do when loneliness or boredom sets in, personal safety at home and in public spaces, fire safety, weather safety, and basic first-aid for medical emergencies.
Thank you to Bismarck Police, Officer Caitlyn Horne and Fire Department, Deputy Adam Miller for taking time to help students learn how to be safe at home and in public spaces. As a bonus, youth were able to learn bike safety skills and proper fitting for their helmet.
