Summer Heat arriving this week! Check out Monroe County Emergency Management - Indiana's post below to remember how to stay cool and precautions to take during high temperatures.
The Heat Is Here
Wednesday and Thursday will be hot and humid this week, with temperatures around 88 and 93 degrees in the afternoon.
Along with the heat, rain chances and thunderstorm chances continue for both Wednesday and Thursday.
Since it is June, the heat and humidity are here to stay for a little while. Some days will be hotter than others, so be ready and prepared.
Please take time to look at some of these heat-related safety tips:
- Drink plenty of water and drinks with electrolytes. Avoid drinking a lot of caffeine.
- Wear cool and lightweight clothing; avoid dark and restrictive clothes.
- Slow down by taking frequent breaks, especially if you are outside for a prolonged time.
- Take breaks in the shade if possible.
- Limit direct exposure to the sun if possible.
- Know the signs of heat-related injuries and illnesses.
- Always check the backseat of your vehicle for children or pets prior to locking the doors and leaving.
