🏁 The entries are in!

A total of 13,023 Idaho entries were submitted for the Powerball® NASCAR® The Chase for $1 Million promotion.

One Idaho player will be selected as a finalist and announced on September 6 during the NASCAR race at Darlington Raceway.

The Idaho finalist will win $2,000 cash and earn a chance to advance for a shot at $1 million.

Imagine winning $100,000…twice.

Eleven years ago, Garry Kaae walked into the Idaho Lottery Winners Lobby after scratching his way to a $100,000 top prize on a Cashword ticket.

This week, he came back.

With another $100,000 Cashword top prize.

When asked what it’s like to win $100,000 for a second time, Garry’s response was simple:

“It’s not too bad.”

We also asked what had changed in his life since winning $100,000 eleven years ago.

“Nothing much.”

A second six-figure win and somehow Garry remains one of the most nonchalant winners we’ve met.

He was also quick to share the credit.

“I sent my daughter to pick it up for me, so she deserves some of the credit, I suppose.”

Some things change in 11 years. Some things don’t. Garry still plays to win, and apparently still has a knack for finding top-prize Cashword tickets.

And whether players win or lose, Idaho schools, teachers, and public buildings are always winning too.

“I brought the ticket in a fireproof bag…”

And after meeting Beverly Macfee, that felt completely reasonable.

Beverly stopped by Idaho Lottery headquarters this week to claim a $50,000 top prize on Friday Night Poker. The ticket was safely tucked away in a fireproof bag, and she arrived with her husband ready to celebrate.

As soon as Beverly saw the prize amount, she handed the ticket to her husband and said:

“Here’s your RV.”

Apparently that’s been the agreement for years.

Not only did Beverly scratch a Royal Flush, she scratched the exact same Royal Flush featured in the game’s logo. ♠️♥️♣️♦️

Her husband brought winning Lotto America tickets too.

To be fair, he was a winner that day.

To also be fair, Beverly stole the spotlight.

Between the giant check, the playful arguments, and a few celebratory kisses, it became pretty clear that the fireproof bag was doing its best—but some sparks just can’t be contained.

Congratulations, Beverly. We have a feeling that RV is going to see a lot of miles.
