The Boston Fire Prevention Education Unit regrets to announce the Line of Duty Death of Firefighter Robert “Bobby” Kilduff Jr. (“BK”), a dedicated member of the Boston Fire Department and Rescue 2.

Firefighter Kilduff proudly served the City of Boston for 24 years and was also a United States Marine Corps veteran. A third-generation firefighter, Bobby was known throughout the department as a firefighter’s firefighter — someone who would do anything for his brothers and sisters on the job. He tragically lost his life while operating at a 3-alarm fire on Treadway Road in Dorchester after suffering severe injuries in the line of duty.

BK will be remembered for his courage, dedication, loyalty, and commitment to protecting the residents of Boston. Most importantly, he will be remembered as a devoted father, family man, friend, and brother.

Our thoughts, prayers, and deepest condolences are with the Kilduff family, Rescue Company 2, Local 718, and all members of the Boston Fire Department during this incredibly difficult time.

Rest easy, Bobby.
Your watch is over.
We have it from here. 🚒🖤

🚒⛑️🔥 The Boston Fire Prevention Education Unit, along with Engine 52, was happy to attend the Boston Kite & Bicycle Festival on May 16 at Franklin Park.

Engine 52 demonstrated the tools and equipment used on the fire engine while the Education Unit handed out fire hats, coloring books and fire safety information. As always, both children and adults were eager to spin the Fire Safety Wheel and learn important fire safety tips!

Young and old alike enjoyed flying kites and spending the day together in the park.

We were also proud to participate alongside our partners at Boston EMS, the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department, Boston Parks and Recreation, and a host of other City agencies and vendors who helped make this a fun and successful community event. 🚒🎡🪁 Boston Parks and Recreation Department Mayor Michelle Wu 吳弭 Boston EMS (Emergency Medical Services) City of Boston Suffolk County Sheriff's Department - Boston, MA Kite festivals Boston Firefighters Local 718 IAFF

🔥🚒The Boston Fire Prevention Education Unit recently provided Fire Safety and Utility Controls training for the City of Boston Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) volunteers.

The City of Boston CERT Program is recognized by the National CERT Association and gives Boston residents the opportunity to support the city's emergency response efforts while becoming better prepared to respond to emergencies of any size.

During the training, volunteers learned important fire safety practices, utility control procedures, emergency preparedness skills, and the basics of proper fire extinguisher (PASS) use to help keep themselves and their communities safe.

Thank you to all the CERT volunteers for your dedication and commitment to serving the residents of Boston! 🚒🔥

The Boston Fire Prevention Education Unit recently conducted a senior fire safety presentation at the Boston Elks Lodge #10 in West Roxbury. During this session, we provided instruction on Fire Extinguisher 101, along with important fire safety practices in and around the kitchen.

Participants were trained in essential life-saving techniques. Stop, Drop, Cover Your Face, and roll, and learn how fires start and spread through the Fire Triangle.

A key part of the presentation included individuals with mobility challenges, emphasizing how to smother a fire from a wheelchair, proper use of hands and guardrails in bathrooms, awareness of areas of refuge, and fall prevention.

This program reinforces our commitment to ensuring all community members especially seniors have the knowledge and skills to stay safe.

🚒🔥 The Boston Fire Department's Fire Prevention Education Unit was glad to participate in Office Hours with the Mayor at the Bruce C. Bolling Municipal Building.

This event brought together many city departments and government agencies to give residents an opportunity to ask questions, share concerns, and learn about resources available in the community.

We were pleased to meet with residents, provide fire safety information, and discuss programs offered by the Boston Fire Department to help keep our neighborhoods safe. 🔥 🚒
