🎀 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

The Boston Fire Department Fire Prevention Education Unit proudly stands with those affected by breast cancer.

Breast cancer impacts thousands of families each year. Early detection can save lives, and awareness is one of our strongest tools.

This month, we honor the survivors, support those currently battling this disease, and remember the loved ones we have lost.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is more than wearing pink. It’s about spreading awareness, encouraging early detection, and standing together as a community.

Together, we raise awareness. Together, we save lives. 🎀

🔥 FIRE PREVENTION WEEK 2026 🔥
October 4–10

⚡ “Charge into Fire Safety™: Safe Charging Is a Superpower.” ⚡

Fire Prevention Week reminds us that preventing fires saves lives, protects families, and strengthens our community.

The observance traces its roots to the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.
👉 Learn more: https://webapps1.chicago.gov/landmarksweb/web/landmarkdetails.htm?lanId=1272

Boston has its own important fire history, including the devastating Great Boston Fire of 1872.
👉 Learn more: https://www.boston.gov/departments/fire-operations

This year, we're putting special attention on lithium-ion battery safety. 🔋

✅ Use the correct charger.
✅ Charge on a hard, flat surface, never a bed or couch.
✅ Keep e-bikes and e-scooters away from exits.
✅ Stop using batteries that overheat, swell, smoke, or smell unusual.

The best fire is the one that never starts.

🚒🔥⛑️Boston Fire Engine 52 and the Boston Fire Prevention Education Unit were proud to participate in the Annual Sickle Cell Walk at Franklin Park, joining resource tables and organizations from across the City of Boston.

Sickle cell disease is an inherited blood disorder that affects red blood cells and can cause severe pain, anemia, organ complications, and other serious health challenges. It disproportionately affects people of African descent, though it can occur in people from many different backgrounds.

🔥 Boston Fire is proud to be part of the community—not only responding to emergencies, but also supporting education, awareness, and healthier neighborhoods. 🚒🔥⛑️

Thank you to everyone who came out, walked, shared resources, and supported this important cause. ❤️
