Highway 43 is temporarily closed from Lake Road to County Road 49 due to an incident.

Please avoid the area and use an alternate route until further notice.

⚠️ Travel Advisory – Bottineau County ⚠️

Please use extreme caution while traveling on roads throughout Bottineau County. The Souris and Bottineau areas have received a tremendous amount of rainfall, resulting in water flowing over many roadways.

If you encounter water covering a roadway, do not attempt to drive through it. The depth and condition of the road beneath the water are often impossible to determine, and even a small amount of moving water can be dangerous.

If you don’t have to travel, consider delaying your trip until conditions improve.

Please slow down, stay alert, and help keep yourself and others safe.

🚨 If you come across hazardous road conditions, report them to the appropriate authorities.

⚠️ SEVERE WEATHER ALERT ⚠️

Bottineau County is expected to experience severe weather this evening, with wind gusts potentially exceeding 70 MPH. These conditions may result in downed trees, power outages, property damage, and hazardous travel conditions.

Residents are encouraged to monitor weather conditions closely and be prepared to seek shelter if necessary.

📍 Westhope — High School Commons Area
📍 Lansford — Lansford School

Please secure outdoor items, avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather, and have multiple ways to receive weather warnings and emergency notifications.

If you encounter an emergency, call 911.

Missing Person Update: The remains found on October 16, 2025, in the J. Clark Salyer Wildlife Refuge have been identified as John Stewart of Willow City.

Karen has been located.

Thank you to all the agencies that assisted in locating Karen.

********ATTENTION*********

The Bottineau County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public’s assistance in locating a Karen Fraser. Karen is a 84 year old Female. She is 5’1” Thin with light complexion. Karen has longer dark hair. Karen was last seen at her residence in Bottineau in the area of 7th and Sinclair St around 7:30-8 pm on 4/2/26. Unknown what Karen is wearing. Karen may have dementia, and may be confused or disoriented. Bottineau Fire,EMS,along with Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for Karen.

We are asking if Bottineau residence could check cameras and their properties.

The sheriffs office along with other agencies will be walking and driving the areas.
