Today, the Brighton Betsey Ann Fire Protection District recognizes and honors the incredible service of Firefighter and Board Member Mike Price.

Tuesday night, Mike officially submitted his resignation letter from the Board, bringing to a close more than four decades of dedication to our department and community.

Mike first joined the department in January 1979 as a firefighter, serving proudly for 27 years. Following his time on the fireground, he continued his commitment to the district by serving as a Board Member beginning in 2002.

His years of leadership, service, and dedication have left a lasting impact on this department and the citizens we proudly serve. Mike’s commitment to the fire service, his support of our firefighters, and his devotion to the community will not be forgotten.

On behalf of the Brighton Betsey Ann Fire Protection District, thank you, Mike Price, for your years of selfless service, leadership, and friendship. We wish you nothing but the very best in your retirement.

Congratulations and thank you for 46 years of dedication to the fire service and this community.

This Memorial Day, the members of Brighton Fire Department pause to honor and remember the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. 🇺🇸

Today, we reflect on the courage, dedication, and selflessness of those who gave everything in service to our nation. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

As we gather with family and friends, let us take a moment to remember our fallen heroes and the families who continue to carry their memory.

The Brighton Fire Department is pleased to announce the upcoming community CPR training sessions. There will notable changes from previous years. We will be transitioning to a Friends and Family CPR course, designed to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to respond effectively in cardiac arrest emergencies. Participants will not receive a CPR certification card. The training session is scheduled for Friday, September 25th at 6:00 PM at Brighton Fire Station #1, located at 105 Myrtle Street. The duration of the class is approximately 1.5 hours. Due to limited seating, interested individuals are asked to RSVP via email to [email protected]. This complimentary session will be offered twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall.

At 13:17, the Brighton Fire Department responded to a reported attached garage fire in the vicinity of Cove Drive. Brighton Police arrived within minutes and advised of heavy fire showing and spread to the adjacent residence to the west. Upon arrival, first units encountered two split foyer style residences, one heavily and one partially involved. Firefighters executed an aggressive attack on both structures. Several factors impeded fire extinguishment efforts due to rapid fire spread caused by high winds. We would like to extend our appreciation to mutual aid departments who provided assistance: Godfrey Fire, Fosterburg Fire, Medora Fire, Bunker Hill FPD, and Alton Memorial Hospital EMS for medical standby services. We would also like to thank our Fire Department Auxiliary and our community for the support. We had several people bring out water and Gatorade to our firefighters.
