The Buffalo & Erie County Public Library sends sincere condolences to the family of George K. Arthur, a champion for equality in the city he was born in and loved. The former Common Council president, who died this past weekend, was a leader in the fields of education, housing, economic and community development. We will all miss George K. Arthur’s friendly presence.

Happy first day of Kwanzaa!
12/26/2020

Happy first day of Kwanzaa!

Kwanzaa, which starts today and goes through January 1st, was founded in 1966 by Maulana Karenga, then a leader of a community organization in Los Angeles called Us, and modeled after the harvest or “first fruits” celebrations in ancient Egypt, West Africa’s New Yam Festival and other celebrations on the African continent.

Kwanzaa has seven core principles, or Nguzo Saba: Unity, self-determination, collective world and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity, and faith.

May we recommit to live these principles every day of the year.

Happy Kwanzaa!

New novel, "Mollie's Follies," shares how a beautiful daughter, jealous mother relationship affects all those with whom they come in contact. https://kdp.amazon.com/en_US/bookshelf https://www.amazon.com/author/bonnie.mill-lemke
Local author announces release of new 5-star rated novel, "Mollie's Follies." Herein, young, beautiful Mary Lynn Sharp, aka Mollie, is on the run prior to reviving from a two-week coma. Upon awakening, her first thought is of the last conversation she overheard, where paramedics are discussing which Missouri hospital is best equipped to treat her horrific injuries, Branson or Springfield. Fast-paced action, swift changing story-lines, and thought-provoking perspectives makes "Mollie's Follies" a great summer read. https://kdp.amazon.com/en_US/bookshelf https://www.amazon.com/author/bonnie.mill-lemke
