๐๐จ Itโs been a great start to the school year! Iโve enjoyed getting into the schools, meeting students and staff, visiting classrooms, and settling into my role as School Resource Officer. ๐จ๐
๐ซ One of my first classroom opportunities was with our fourth-grade students, where we talked about the importance of knowing your home address. ๐
๐ We discussed how knowing your address can be extremely important during an emergency. If you ever need police, fire, or medical assistance, being able to tell a dispatcher where you live can help get help headed your way. ๐๐๐๐
We also talked about another important part of knowing your address: knowing who to share it with. Students learned that their address is personal information. It can be shared when appropriate with trusted adults and emergency responders, but it should not be given to strangers, shared online, or shared with others they donโt know and trust.
๐๏ธThese first two weeks have been a great opportunity to start building relationships, answer questions, and become a familiar face around our schools.
