Four seniors. Four directors. Four creative voices. 🎭

This year’s CHS One Acts are being directed by Maaike Mora, Monroe Melton, Lexie Palmer, and Aarthi Eswaran, four seriously talented young women who have made the most of every creative opportunity Carmel High School has to offer.

🎬 Aarthi Eswaran, director of 'Will You Be My Nemesis,' has been involved with One Acts since ninth grade and has also immersed herself in Indiana State Thespians. Her goal? To start her own theater company.

🎭 Lexie Palmer, director of 'One Stoplight Town,' found her love of acting reignited during her sophomore year. As captain of Speech and Debate, she has discovered how naturally those two passions come together, bringing storytelling, performance, and competition into one creative outlet.

✍️ Monroe Melton, director of 'Dear lord,' also wrote her own play. She loves just about every form of creativity: directing, acting, photography, and playwriting. She says she knew from a young age that she wanted a creative life, and she is grateful that a public high school in the Midwest has given her so many opportunities to explore those interests and, perhaps most importantly, actually see her own work come to life on stage.

🎶 Maaike Mora, director of 'My Amie,' brings together her love of history, music, and acting. She takes IB Film, self-studied for the AP Music Theory exam, and earned a 5! She also wrote and scored her One Act, creating both the story and the music behind it.

These four are a pretty great reminder of what can happen when talented young people are given the opportunity to lead and be creative.

The CHS One Acts run tonight, Friday, and Saturday at 7 pm. Tickets are just $10.

Terrible traffic, bus and truck with the set running super late, could only use a few set pieces because we had to start on time, but the actors were amazing, they pivoted, they improvised and they still provided a powerful and beautiful performance! The show must go on! Three more opportunities to see “Cicada” and luckily we will have no more traffic troubles! We hope to see you there tomorrow, Friday night, August 21 at 8:00pm, The District Theatre!
