Centerville Police Department Arrests Suspect Following Indecent Exposure Report

On December 11, 2025, Centerville Police Department officers were notified of a report involving a man in a black truck on Morton Avenue who had allegedly exposed himself to an individual. Officers quickly responded to the area and began searching for the vehicle.

A short time later, the truck was located and was caught up to on Mattie Harris Road. Upon officers’ arrival, the driver exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot into a wooded area. Centerville officers initiated a track of the suspect with assistance from multiple agencies, including the Fountain City Police Department and K9 Rebel, the Milton Police Department, and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, which provided aerial surveillance via drone and Deputies assisting in many other operations.

Through the coordinated efforts and teamwork of all involved agencies, the suspect was successfully located, apprehended, and identified.

The suspect was transported and lodged pending the following charges:
• Indecent Exposure
• Resisting Law Enforcement

The Centerville Police Department would like to thank all assisting agencies for their rapid response and support.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

🚨 Public Safety Alert: Phone Scams on the Rise 🚨

We’ve recently received reports that someone is impersonating law enforcement officers and contacting local residents, claiming to be a deputy from the Wayne County Sheriff's Department. This individual is telling people they have a warrant for their arrest and demanding that bond money be paid over the phone immediately.

‼️ PLEASE NOTE: This is a scam! ‼️

Centerville Police Department, along with all legitimate law enforcement agencies, will NEVER contact you by phone to demand payment for any reason, including bonds or fines. If you ever receive such a call, please follow these important guidelines:

Hang up immediately if someone claims to be from law enforcement and asks for money over the phone.

Do NOT provide any personal or financial information over the phone.

Verify the caller's identity – If you're unsure, contact your local police department or the sheriff’s office directly using a known number (do not call back the number they gave you).

Remember that law enforcement will NEVER ask you to pay bonds or fees through unconventional methods like gift cards, wire transfers, or prepaid debit cards.

Report the call to local authorities immediately, and provide any details you can.

Scammers often try to create a sense of urgency to pressure victims into paying quickly. If you have any concerns, we encourage you to reach out to us for clarification. Your safety and security are our top priority.

Stay vigilant and always double-check before sharing any personal information.
