West Virginia Treasury State Treasurer Larry Pack is the chief financial officer of West Virginia.

The Office of the West Virginia State Treasurer was established at the Constitutional Convention held in Wheeling in 1863 after the western counties of Virginia split to become West Virginia. The Treasurer's Office is one of six constitutionally mandated offices in West Virginia.

Every administration over the last 30 years has contributed to our national debt. This lack of disregard for the taxpayer has forced our government to borrow money to cover those deficits. Treasurer Pack urges members of Congress to address the national debt problem.

Treasurer Pack called for a suspension of the state gas tax to offset increasing gas prices due to the conflict in Iran. If a suspension of the state gas tax was considered, Treasurer Pack would ask the Legislature and Governor to reimburse any lost road dollars out of general revenue surplus.

On this National 529 Day, State Treasurer Larry Pack presented a $10,000 check to the 2026 SMART529 "Fund the Future" Sweepstakes winner Ellie Ryba, a 9th grade student at University High School in Morgantown.
