This evening at 8:09 while over 20 members were at the station for duty crew we were dispatched for a kitchen fire in town. 3 fully staffed trucks were on scene in less than 5 minutes and the fire was quickly extinguished and put under control at 8:14. Great job by all these volunteers to give up their Saturday night to protect our community’s.

Around 3 pm today, Cheswold along with Leipsic Vol. Fire Company and the Dover Fire Dept. were alerted to a house fire on Commerce Street in Cheswold. Engine 43-3 and Deputy Chief Mast arrived to find a single story home with fire showing. The crew of 43-3 began an attack on the fire and the crew from Tower 43 began searches. These crews were followed quickly by units from Leipsic and Dover. The house suffered heavy damage but there were no injuries. We were also assisted by the Little Creek Fire Company, the Smyrna American Legion Ambulance Service Station 64 Inc., Kent County Department of Public Safety, and the Town of Cheswold

Yesterday morning the Cheswold Fire Company participated in a joint training alongside Leipsic Fire Company, Smyrna Fire Company, Kent County Special Ops, and the Delaware State Fire School. The company’s involved in this training are keeping up on the skills of some of the more complex accidents we come across.
A special thank you to McKinneys Towing for providing the vehicles and space that made this training possible. We truly appreciate the continued support from our community partners.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to assist and train—your dedication helps ensure we’re prepared for real-life situations.

Cheswold has had volunteers staffing the station around the clock since the storm began. We have handled many storm related calls involving downed trees, wires, and assisting the ambulance crew with ingress and egress of patients. We’re currently on scene of a camper fire. The Dover Fire Department assisted on the call.

Last night Cheswold was alerted for a barn fire on Seven Hickories Road. Command 43 arrived to find a two story garage on fire. Engine 43-3 and Tower 43 started suppressing the fire and searching the structure. During that search two of our firefighters fell through the second floor and sustained minor injuries. The Leipsic Fire Company, Dover Fire Department, Hartly Fire Company, and a tanker from Marydel assisted us . It was a cold night with a lot of slips and falls.
