THE RIGHT TO REPAIR. THE RIGHT TO DETERMINE.

What does meaningful repair require? And what role does a people’s ability to shape its own future play in the conversation about reparations?

On Saturday, November 28, 2026, the Alliance for Moorish-American Progress will convene the 2026 Centennial Forum: Exploring Reparations Through Restorative Justice & Self-Determination in Chicago.

In acknowledgement of National Restorative Justice Month, we’re bringing together community members, restorative justice practitioners, reparations advocates and commissioners, scholars, policymakers, students, historians, and interested partners for a collective conversation about how restorative justice and self-determination can inform meaningful repair, and strengthen a people’s power to shape its own future.

The Forum will feature expert dialogue, historical inquiry, community assemblies, and policy-focused action, with opportunities for participants to learn, question, contribute ideas, and help identify pathways forward.

The gathering is also held in honor of the Centennial of the November 29, 1926 civic incorporation of the Moorish Science Temple of America, an opportunity to examine history while asking what repair, self-determination, and institution-building can mean for the next century.

On Monday, August 31, 2026, we invite Moorish-Americans from across the nation to join us for the 2026 National Pilgrimage, commemorating 99 years of unity, heritage, and legacy and honoring the original pilgrimage to the First Temple grounds led by Prophet Drew Ali on August 31, 1927.

Today, The Alliance for Moorish-American Progress honors the life and legacy of Marcus Mosiah Garvey on Marcus Garvey Day.

His message of unity, self-determination, economic independence, cultural pride, and nation-building continues to challenge us to do more than remember history, it calls us to build upon it.

Honoring his vision. Carrying his legacy. Building our future.

As we continue the work of organizing, educating, and advancing our people, may we never forget the importance of knowing who we are, understanding where we come from, and preparing the generations that follow.
