Planting for Salmon was a huge success! 🐟

Thank you to all the Tribal members, agency partners, and volunteers who joined us to help restore the banks of the Eklutna River. Together, we worked to enhance salmon habitat and support the continued use of this important area by salmon, as they have since time immemorial. 🌏

A special thank you to the Mat-Su Basin Salmon Habitat Partnership for helping coordinate this incredible event. Thanks to everyone's hard work, we planted nearly 200 native plants along the riverbank. 🏞️

We are also grateful to our partners at the Alaska Plant Materials Center, the Anchorage Soil and Water Conservation District, Bear Mountain Forest Nursery, and the Knik Tribe for generously providing plants and helping make this event possible. 🌱

Thank you to everyone who contributed their time, energy, and commitment to restoring the Eklutna River for future generations of salmon and people alike. ⏳

Please do not cross the flagging or enter the river area, as these plants are currently becoming established. Thank you for helping protect this restoration effort. 🎉

Bring your family and friends to the annual Fun Run for diabetes prevention and education!

Participants may choose a 5K or 1-mile course and enjoy an evening with family, friends, and community members. Stop by early to explore the health fair and pick up a Fun Run shirt. The event will be held Thursday, June 4 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Nateya Building, 4201 Tudor Centre Drive.

Event Schedule:
Health Fair: 5–6 p.m.
Registration: 5–6 p.m.
Run Begins: 6:15 p.m.

The NVE Health Board and Southcentral Foundation had the pleasure of visiting with a group of Hawaiian scholars from Oahu Community College who are working on ways to reintegrate their traditional healing ways into healthcare. The group joined us today for the Eklutna Village Health Board meeting. Chin’an and Mahalo for the cultural exchange and for visiting with us today.
