Think your soup has what it takes to win The Golden Ladle? Or would you rather help choose the winner?

Join Carver County Parks for the Baylor Soup Showdown on Saturday, Oct. 3, at Baylor Regional Park.

Enter as a Soup Maker for a chance to win The Golden Ladle and receive four free event tickets. Or register as a Taste Tester to enjoy unlimited soup samples and help crown the winner.

The fun goes beyond soup with archery, geocaching, a rock climbing wall, and more.

Event schedule:
• 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Outdoor activities
• 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.: Soup tasting
• 12:45 p.m.: Awards ceremony

Make a weekend of it. Campsites are still available at Baylor Regional Park.

Children 2 and younger are free. Day-of tickets will be available for $15.

Parks staff will be available to:
• Share information about upcoming programs and events.
• Highlight volunteer opportunities.
• Help you learn about amenities throughout Carver County Parks.
• Answer questions and help you plan your next park visit.

Visit us Friday, Aug. 14, through Sunday, Aug. 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day at the Carver County Fairgrounds in Waconia.

Carver County Parks is hiring for two positions that help keep our parks welcoming, safe, and enjoyable for visitors.

Seasonal Park Maintenance
Help maintain buildings, trails, and park grounds at Lake Minnewashta Regional Park and Baylor Regional Park. Applicants must be at least 17 years old, have a valid Minnesota driver's license, and be available to work weekends.
• Pay: $17 to $23 per hour
• Open until filled

Seasonal Park Services Attendant
Assist with facility reservations, equipment rentals, and visitor questions while providing excellent customer service at Baylor Regional Park and Lake Waconia Regional Park. Applicants must be at least 16 years old and available to work weekends and holidays.
• Pay: $17 to $21 per hour
• Apply by 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 13

Camping With the Stars returns this weekend at Eagle Lake Observatory in Baylor Regional Park.

Join the Minnesota Astronomical Society Friday, Aug. 14, through Sunday, Aug. 16, for a weekend of astronomy presentations, observatory activities, a guided constellation tour, public stargazing, and more.

Planning to camp? Space is limited. Utility campsites are fully booked, but primitive campsites, ballfield campsites, and the group campsite are still available.

Register in advance and reserve your spot for a weekend under the stars using the free Carver County Parks app.

Help shape the future of parks and trails across the Twin Cities region.

If you're visiting a Carver County park or trail this summer, you may be invited to take a voluntary visitor survey. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes to complete and will help guide future park and trail improvements.

The survey will be conducted through Sept. 19.

Enjoy an evening outdoors at Lake Minnewashta Regional Park with an archery lesson, followed by a geocaching treasure hunt through the woods. No experience is needed, and all archery equipment is provided.

Choose from two dates:
• Sunday, Aug. 16, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
• Sunday, Sept. 13, 5 to 7 p.m.

Whether you're new to archery or looking to improve, this hands-on lesson on Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Watertown-Mayer Community Learning Center teaches range safety, shooting techniques, and fun target challenges. All equipment is provided.

Designed for ages 8-13, choose from two sessions:
• 10 to 11:30 a.m.
• Noon to 1:30 p.m.

Join the Minnesota Astronomical Society for Camping With the Stars from Aug. 14-16 at Eagle Lake Observatory. Enjoy astronomy presentations, observatory activities, a guided constellation tour, public stargazing, and more.
