Monday at summer camp started with a little history lesson as we learned about the incredible achievement of the Carolina Hurricanes and their Stanley Cup victory! It was a fun way to kick off a week focused on teamwork, perseverance, and accomplishing big goals. ๐Ÿ†

We would also like to extend a huge thank you to Ignite Learning Center - Greenville SC for visiting our campers and providing an exciting hands-on STEAM experience! Ignite Learning Center offers STEAM programming for K-12 students that encourages young learners to step outside of the traditional classroom routine and discover the fun, energy, and excitement of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. ๐Ÿ’ก

Campers worked together in teams to design and build their very own arcade-style games. From brainstorming ideas to solving problems and bringing their creations to life, they put their creativity, teamwork, and engineering skills to the test. It was amazing to see each group's unique game and the pride they took in their work. ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ“šโœ๏ธ

Thank you, Ignite Learning Center, for inspiring our campers to build, create, and think outside the box (literally)! ๐Ÿ“ฆ

A huge thank you to Foothills Humane Society and their amazing staff for welcoming our summer camp campers for a fun and educational field trip!

Campers learned about the important work the humane society does for animals in our community, how to properly care for pets, and even had the opportunity to meet some adorable four-legged friends. They also got creative by decorating their own cat ears and making cat toys for shelter animals.

We would also like to give a special shout-out to Animal Control Officer Patti with the Polk County, N.C. Sheriff's Office for taking time to speak with our campers. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and helping our campers learn more about animal safety and responsibility.

We are so grateful for the time, knowledge, and kindness the Foothills Humane Society team shared with our campers. It was a day filled with learning, creativity, compassion, and plenty of tail wags! ๐Ÿพโค๏ธ

Wednesday at Summer Camp was full of learning, adventure, and generosity!

Our campers learned about the importance of saying "no" to peer pressure and making positive choices, even when it may not be easy. We had great discussions about standing up for ourselves and being confident in doing what is right.๐Ÿ’ช

We also want to give a huge thank you to Chimney Rock for bringing some of their reptiles and amphibians to camp! ๐Ÿ๐ŸขThe kids loved getting up close and learning about these amazing creatures. Although, if we're being honest, the adults may have been a little more nervous than the campers! ๐Ÿ™ˆ

We also kicked off a new camp adventure by welcoming ten caterpillars that will soon become butterflies! The campers had a blast coming up with names for them, and let's just say their creativity did not disappoint. We can't wait to watch them grow and eventually take flight!๐Ÿ›๐Ÿฆ‹

Another special thank you goes to Kelly with Project Linus - Upstate SC for donating beautiful handmade blankets for all of our campers. Each child was excited to pick out the blanket that best matched their personality, and their smiles said it all. โœจ

The 2nd week of camp is off to an amazing start! Monday, we focused on the importance of being a good teammate and how working together helps us achieve great things.

To put those skills into practice, we welcomed Jeannette from SC Bricks LUG, an Adult Fan of LEGOยฎ User Group based in South Carolina whose motto is "Build, Inspire, Create." Jeannette shared information about her organization and encouraged our campers to use teamwork, creativity, and imagination to complete a fun challenge. ๐Ÿ’ช

Working in groups, campers designed and built some of their favorite summer activities entirely out of LEGOยฎ bricks. From outdoor adventures to vacation fun, the creativity on display was incredible! We loved watching campers collaborate, problem-solve, and support one another as they brought their ideas to life. ๐Ÿ’•

A huge thank you to Jeannette and SC Bricks LUG for spending time with us and helping make learning about teamwork so much fun. We would also like to extend our gratitude to Bricks & Minifigs for their generous donation of LEGOยฎ bricks. Your support helped make this activity possible and gave our campers the opportunity to create, imagine, and work together in such a fun and meaningful way.

We can't wait to see what the rest of the week has in store!

What a wonderful way to wrap up our first week of summer camp! On Friday, campers learned about their unique strengths. We discovered that everyone has something special to contribute, and our campers did an amazing job supporting and encouraging one another.

Of course, Ebony and Ivory ended up stealing the show! ๐Ÿถโค๏ธ We would like to give a huge thank you to the Pet Resource Center Spartanburg County for bringing these adorable puppies to visit our camp. In between cuddles and puppy playtime, campers created cat toys to donate back to SCPRC and decorated bandanas for dogs waiting to find their forever homes.

It was a fun, meaningful, and incredibly cute way to end an amazing first week of camp. We are so proud of our campers and can't wait to have more adventures!

Wednesday marked our 2nd day of Summer Camp, and what an amazing day it was! โ˜€๏ธ

We were excited to welcome Challenge Island, whose mission is to meet the social, emotional, and intellectual needs of todayโ€™s playful, creative children and tomorrowโ€™s globally successful adults through hands-on STEAM education. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’ก๐Ÿ“š

Our campers participated in the Super Steamio Island Adventure, where they used their imagination, creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills to design and build their own obstacle challenges. It was incredible to watch their ideas come to life!

A huge thank you to Challenge Island for spending the day with us and providing such a fun and engaging experience. We're not entirely sure who had more funโ€”the children or the adults! ๐Ÿ˜Š

๐ŸŒž๐ŸŽ‰ We have officially kicked off our Summer Camp! ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŒž

Yesterday was our first day, and what an amazing start it was!

We spent time discussing our camp mission and expectations, focusing on the importance of being kind, respectful, and a good friend to others. One of the highlights of the day was watching our returning campers go out of their way to help our new campers feel welcomed and included. Seeing their kindness and leadership made us incredibly proud!

We also planted the first vegetable garden for Steps to Hope, creating something that will continue to grow throughout the summer. A special shout-out goes to our volunteer, Von, for helping us get the garden started and sharing her time and knowledge with our campers. We are so grateful for her support!

To top it all off, everyone cooled off with a delicious treat from Kona Ice!

Thank you to all the campers, families, staff, and volunteers who helped make our first day such a success. We can't wait to see what the rest of the summer has in store!

๐Ÿ’™๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ…๐Ÿง Best first day ever! ๐Ÿง๐Ÿ…๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ’™
