Preparing for winter takes teamwork! ❄️
Recently, the Department of Public Service welcomed area commissioners, city liaisons, and other City staff for a behind-the-scenes look at our snow operations.
Attendees learned how our crews prepare for winter weather and toured the equipment that keeps Columbus streets safe and passable throughout the season, including our new wing plow, which clears two lanes at once!
This opportunity strengthens coordination and helps our city partners better understand the work that keeps Columbus moving during winter weather.

Central Nights Outpost made history at this year’s Department of Public Service Roadeo, becoming the first outpost in six years to claim Top Outpost honors in back-to-back years!

Congratulations to Travis Radcliff of Roberts Road Outpost, who took home the Top Driver award!

Our annual Roadeo puts our crews’ skills, precision and teamwork to the test as we continue preparing for the winter season and keeping Columbus streets safe and passable.

🚧 Building a safer East Broad Street!

The City of Columbus Department of Public Service is working to improve safety and connectivity along East Broad Street, just east of I-270, between I-270 and Outerbelt Street.

Improvements include new sidewalks, a shared-use path, upgraded traffic signals, enhanced street lighting and roadway upgrades designed to improve traffic flow and reduce crashes.

This section of East Broad Street is part of the Vision Zero Columbus High Injury Network, making these improvements an important step toward creating safer streets for everyone who walks, bikes or drives through the corridor.

Safer streets. Better connections. A stronger Columbus.

The SR 104 westbound right lane from the Haul Rd bridge to the Scioto River bridge is closed indefinitely for bridge repairs. In addition, the left side shoulder on SR 104 westbound across the Scioto River is closed for these repairs.

***SERVICE CHANGE NOTIFICATION***

The City of Columbus trash collection service will not be provided on Monday, October 12, in observance of Indigenous Peoples' Day; however, recycling and yard waste pickup will occur as scheduled.

Starting Monday, Oct. 5, the intersection at Smoky Row Rd and Summit View Blvd will close for approximately two weeks during storm sewer and sidewalk construction. Watch for road closure signage and follow the posted detour signage.

One of these things is not like the others👀 Underneath some of the armadillos on our E Broad St demonstration project, there are hidden bike counters that will provide us with valuable insight as we continue to monitor the project. ZICLA came out to show our crews how to install them and how they work.
