Starting Tuesday morning, Sept. 8, Cassady Ave will be closed to all traffic from E. 5th Ave to E. 7th Ave for approximately 3 weeks for construction on this section of the roadway. The existing detour on Cassady at Delmar Dr south of the railroad tracks to E 5th Ave remains restricted to one-way northbound traffic as work progresses on the full reconstruction of Cassady. Southbound Cassady drivers should continue to follow posted detour signs.

The Department of Public Service is reconstructing Cassady Ave and the E. 5th Ave intersection, adding turn lanes, sidewalk, shared-use path and street trees, upgraded traffic signals, street lighting and storm sewer.

Have you traveled along E Livingston Avenue leading up to the intersection at Courtright Road? We want to hear from you! Complete the survey on our project website at https://engage.columbus.gov/livingstoncourtrighttest

A safety study found that this location experienced nearly double the state average for injury crashes at an intersection. As a result, this intersection was selected for a test project to reduce the frequency and severity of left-turn and rear-end crashes. We installed water barriers to close the 1000-foot right hand turn lane to slow drivers and reduce erratic driving behavior. Results from this test will determine whether lanes should be reconfigured or other safety improvements should be implemented.

Kinda chic to realize the small stuff is just paying it forward. ✨

Swipe through for a few small habits that make a big difference like parking in the right spot, reading the signs, extending your time in the app, wearing a helmet and giving pedestrians the right of way. None of it’s glamorous, but it keeps Columbus’ sidewalks and streets safer for everyone!
