I am deeply saddened by the passing of former Senator Ray Miller. He was a trailblazer, mentor, and fierce advocate whose work made Ohio stronger.

Senator Miller created two agencies that Ohioans still benefit from today: the Ohio Commission on Minority Health and the Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services, now part of Ohio’s behavioral health system. His legacy of service, vision, and advocacy will continue to inspire generations. Keeping the Miller family in my prayers.

Here is a Franklin County Auditor’s (FCAO) resource that might help provide a bit of relief for qualifying property owners-FCAO’s Damaged and Destroyed Property Program.

State law gives county auditors the authority to reduce real estate values for properties that have been damaged or destroyed by storms, fires or by other means. A substantial reduction in property value may result in a temporary reduction in a qualifying property owner’s property taxes until the property owners damaged property has been restored.

You can find more information about this program to share with constituents here: https://auditor.franklincountyohio.gov/Real-Estate/Tax-Reduction-Programs/Damaged-and-Destroyed

Did You Lose Food During a Power Outage or Disaster?

If you receive Food Assistance through SNAP and are impacted by flooding or power outage of at least 4 hours that results in food loss or spoilage, you can be issued Replacement Benefits.

If you do not receive, Food Assistance, contact your insurance company. I also recommend reaching out to area Food Pantries, like HEART, or area Churches.
