Join the YMCA of Central Ohio and Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks for a FREE day of outdoor fun and adventure for the whole family!

Children, teens, and young adults of all abilities are invited to enjoy a day filled with accessible outdoor activities, family fun, and community connections.

July is Disability Pride Month, which is a time to celebrate disability identity, honor the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and recognize the value of building communities where everyone belongs.

This year's theme, "The World Works Better With Us," reminds us that when people with disabilities are included, supported, and empowered, everyone benefits. This month, take time to learn, listen, connect and advocate for a more inclusive community.

✨ Outdoor Inclusive Adventures is Back... and We’re Celebrating 10 Years! ✨

We’re looking for amazing volunteers to help us create another unforgettable day of outdoor fun, connection, and inclusion for families of all abilities. 💚

📅 Date: September 13th, 2026
📍 Location: Darby Bend Lakes

🕘 Volunteer Shifts: Available between 9:00 AM–5:00 PM

Outdoor Inclusive Adventures is a wheelchair-accessible community event that gives children, teens, and young adults of all abilities the opportunity to experience the outdoors alongside their families, completely free of charge!

🌿 Join us for our Happy Hikers Club Sensory Stroll at Inniswood Metro Gardens!🌸

Explore the sights, sounds, smells, and textures of nature with the YMCA and Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks during this FREE inclusive outdoor adventure! Families will enjoy a guided stroll through the beautiful gardens of Inniswood Metro Gardens, where we'll look, listen, touch, and discover the world around us together. Along the way, you'll have the opportunity to observe plants and animals in their natural habitats while learning fun facts from our knowledgeable guide. A light snack will also be provided to help make the afternoon even sweeter!

⏰ 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM
📍 Inniswood Metro Gardens, 940 S. Hempstead Rd., Westerville
👣 Approximately 1 mile on mostly paved paths with some mulched paths and turf
♿ Wheelchair and stroller accessible
☀️ The stroll will take place outdoors in both sun and shade, so please bring water and sun protection.
🌧 Rain or shine! The event will only be canceled in the event of severe weather.

We had a reel-y great time at our Happy Hikers Club Fishing Event! 🎣🐟

Families joined us at Sharon Woods Metro Park for a morning filled with fishing, learning, and outdoor fun! Many people caught fish, some even reeled in their very first catch ever! It was wonderful to see children building confidence as they learned how to cast, bait a hook, and fish alongside their families with guidance from the Metro Parks naturalist and volunteer.

Our STEM Team's interactive scavenger hunt was also a huge hit! Families enjoyed exploring the area together, searching for clues, and learning about nature in a fun and engaging way.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this event such a success. We love creating opportunities for families of all ages and abilities to connect, learn, and make lasting memories together!
