The Cortland Corset DIY Gallery is showing a local artist, Richard "chic" Cecconi AND a portion of sales goes to Hospice foundation of Cortland County.
The Gallery is in the first floor outside of Cinch Art Space and Crown City Curiosities .

Richard “Chic” Cecconi is a fledgling artist who began experimenting with acrylic paint during
the pandemic to help cure his boredom. His inspiration for painting came from a piece he saw
on television regarding Jackson Po***ck. His reaction was “Oh, I can do that!”. His wife Chris
loves both Modern and Impressionist art, so the couple has frequented art museums in the
States and Europe. A retired science teacher from the Homer Central School District, Chic is a
firm believer in experimentation. He set up a makeshift studio in his garage and ordered
canvases and paint online. His “ splatter” method produced interesting results, but he also
made paintings using straws of different sizes to deliver paint, as well as from small eye
droppers. He tried his hand at pour painting as well and has sold a number of paintings to
friends who appreciate his efforts.
Naming the paintings has been fun, influenced by his love of sports and particularly lacrosse
that he coached for over thirty years. Titles such as “SU Lacrosse”, “Go Bills”, “Worm Holes in
Hyper-space” are a reflection of his interests. Given the ease of his techniques, Chic has been
able to tutor his grandchildren into creating their own masterpieces!
