After more than 50 years of continuous service in law enforcement, Lieutenant James Hammond is officially retiring.

For the last 20 years, Lt. Hammond has been a valuable member of the Dallas County District Attorney's Office, following a distinguished career with the Richardson Police Department. Throughout his career, he has served our community with dedication, professionalism, and integrity.

While we're sad to see him go, we're grateful for the countless lives he's impacted and the example he's set for those who have had the privilege of working alongside him.

Please join us in thanking Lt. Hammond for more than five decades of service and wishing him all the best in his well-earned retirement.

For more than 33 years, the murder of Mary Hague Kelly remained unsolved.

Thanks to the dedication of investigators, prosecutors, and advances in DNA technology, her killer was finally identified and brought to justice.

Thank you to the North Texas Crime Commission for hosting another outstanding luncheon and bringing together district attorneys from across North Texas for an important discussion about the issues impacting our communities.

Dallas County District Attorney John Creuzot was honored to join the panel, sharing how our Mental Health Division and Juvenile Division are helping improve public safety while supporting better outcomes for our community.

We appreciate the opportunity to collaborate, share ideas, and learn from our partners across the region.

Applications for the Dallas County Expunction Expo are now CLOSED.

Because of the large number of applicants, we are not able to accept everyone who applies. Participants will be accepted based on whether they have a felony or misdemeanor arrest that qualifies for an expunction under Texas law and using a random lottery system.

Applicants will be notified by email (or mail if no email address is provided) no later than August 28, 2026, whether they are accepted into the Expunction Expo.

Today marks the 10th anniversary of the tragic events of July 7, 2016, when five courageous law enforcement officers were killed in the line of duty while protecting others in downtown Dallas.

We remember their extraordinary sacrifice, honor their service, and keep their families, loved ones, and fellow officers in our thoughts. Their legacy of courage and selflessness will never be forgotten.
