George Johnson serves as the Program Manager for our AIM Court, providing effective treatment and services for first time, non-violent Felony offenders between the ages of 17 to 24.
“I’m passionate about this work, and I’m honored to be part of such an outstanding Restorative Justice Division team,” George said.
George joined our office in April 2021, but his career in service began long before that. Inspired by his family and a desire to make a difference, he started as an in-school suspension supervisor at a middle school. He went on to serve as a court coordinator for a zero-tolerance juvenile program before becoming an adult treatment court manager for problem-solving courts in Florida and New Jersey.
Today, he brings that experience to the AIM Court where he works with young adults who are often facing significant barriers as they transition into adulthood.
“Many of the individuals we serve have never crossed a graduation stage or had consistent support in their lives,” George said. “Early substance use, mental health challenges and a lack of critical life skills can make it difficult for them to see a path forward. Our goal is to help them recognize that there is one.”
Outside of the courtroom, George has an athletic background, as well as experience coaching high school football and track. But these days, you are just as likely to find him pursuing his passion in the kitchen.
“I like to cook. I’m the Black Bobby Flay,” George said with a laugh. “I can put something together in just about any genre of food. I do my best cooking when I’m motivated and inspired to try something new.”
Whether he is working with a participant, supporting his colleagues or experimenting with a new recipe, George brings passion, heart and genuine enthusiasm to everything he does.
“Witnessing that moment of change, when confidence and hope begin to emerge, makes all the effort worthwhile,” he said.
Dallas County is lucky to have George, and so are the young people he serves.
