💜 What is Elder Abuse?

▫️ Elder abuse is a pattern of power and control that includes physical, sexual, emotional, psychological, verbal, financial, and spiritual abuse.

▫️ The perpetrator can be a family member, close friend, neighbor, adult child or grandchild, caretaker, someone in a position of authority, or anyone the older adult would normally be expected to trust.

▫️ Elder abuse can happen in homes, nursing homes, long-term care and assisted living facilities, and hospitals.

Together, we can create a community where every senior feels safe, valued and supported. 💜

🖥️ Passwords and consent have more in common than people realize.

🔸 Both are personal.
🔸 Both require permission.
🔸 Both can be revoked at any time.
🔸 And just because you had access once doesn’t mean you’re entitled forever.

✨ Trust is earned through respect, not assumed through access.

Sable House is here to support, educate and advocate for you. 💜

👖 Denim Day is more than a fashion statement—it’s a powerful symbol of solidarity and awareness. 💙

Observed each year in April, Denim Day began as a response to a harmful court ruling that blamed a survivor of sexual assault based on what she wore. 👖

Wearing denim isn’t just about remembering—it’s about speaking up, educating others, and committing to a culture of respect and accountability. 💙
