Springfield Delco Police Department The Springfield Township Police Dept is a 35 member Municipal Police Force in Delaware County, PA.

Springfield Township, Delaware County, PA is located about 12 miles west of Center City, Philadelphia and has a population of approximately 24,000. Covering 6.5 square miles, Springfield is mainly residential but boasts one of the major hubs of commerce in Delaware County along the Golden Mile of Baltimore Pk. Springfield Township Police Department currently employs 34 full-time sworn officers, 1

full-time civilian Information Assistants, 1 full-time and 2 part-time Records division clerks, 12 part-time civilian Turn-Keys, and approximately 30 crossing guards. We are the first Law Enforcement Agency in Delaware County, PA to be accredited. Emergency calls for service are taken by Delaware County Emergency Communications Center who then dispatch police.

8-24-26 1718 hrs.
A 16 yr.old from Nether Providence was stopped by security at Target 800 block Baltimore Pk. after
being observed stealing over $322 worth of trading cards and sports equipment. Charges for Retail Theft
will be filed.
8-24-26 2231 hrs.
A 42 yr. old female from Broomall will be charged with Public Drunkenness after being found intoxicated
in the parking lot at Anthony’s Restaurant 800 block W. Springfield Rd.
8-26-26 1620 hrs.
Springfield School District informed officers of a stolen e-bike from their property which occurred on 8-
21 while a sports team was playing an away game. When the team returned, they noticed the bike
missing. Officer Sweeney observed the suspect of the theft on 8-26 on the 100 block of Saxer Av. and
stopped him. The suspect took him to the bike which was then recovered. A 13 yr. old male from
Philadelphia with ties to Springfield will be charged with theft.
8-27-26 1320 hrs.
A 26 yr. old male from Huntington, PA will be charged with Retail Theft for stealing over $29 worth of
merchandise from Macy’s at the mall.
8-28-26 1840 hrs.
A 40 yr. old male from Drexel Hill and 34 yr. old female from Chester were observed acting disorderly
and found intoxicated at the Springfield Park Shopping Center 800 block Baltimore Pk. The male was
taken into custody, and the female needed medical attention and was taken to a hospital. Both will be
charged with Public Drunkenness and Disorderly Conduct.
8-28-26 2053 hrs.
Officers were called to investigate a hit and run crash on the 100 block Barbara Dr. in which a vehicle
struck a parked car and then drove over a lawn and continued without stopping. Swarthmore PD found
the striking vehicle in Swarthmore Borough. Officers responded and found the driver, 45 yr. old male
from Swarthmore, to be intoxicated. He was taken into custody and did submit to a blood test. Charges
for DUI and traffic offenses will be filed.
8-29-26 1340 hrs.
A 28 yr. old male from Eddystone will be charged with Retail Theft for stealing over $225 worth of
clothing from Target at the mall. The male was fount to have an active arrest warrant from Chester and
later found to have stolen from Target also on 8-25.
8-30-26 0229 hrs.
Officer Lord observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed with no rear lights illuminated on the
800 block Baltimore Pk. A traffic stop was initiated, and the driver was found intoxicated. He was
identified as a 29 yr. old male from Harrison, NJ. He was taken into custody and refused a blood test.
Charges for DUI will be filed.
-Seven people under the age of 18 were cited for curfew violations during the week.

8-17-26 1508 hrs.
Two 17 yr. old female from Philadelphia stole over $600 worth of merchandise from Target at the mall
and were taken into custody. Both will be charged with Retail Theft.
8-17-26 2215 hrs.
Walgreen’s unit block Baltimore Pk. employees reported 3 males dressed in black and covering their
faces entered the business and took cash from a cash drawer behind the counter. The males fled on foot
towards Bishop Av. Det. Kennedy is investigating.
8-18-26 0847 hrs.
While officers assisted Upper Darby PD with a theft investigation in the parking lot of Walgreens unit
block Baltimore Pk., they learned the suspect, 55 yr. old male from Chester, had stolen from Walgreens
as well. Over $298 worth of merchandise was recovered, and charges for Retail Theft will be filed.
8-19-26 0330 hrs.
Officer Wilson observed a vehicle on the 300 Lynbrooke Rd. with a door ajar and the cabin light
illuminated. While investigating, a resident reported that shortly before he heard a car alarm and four
subjects running towards Powell Rd. Several unlocked vehicles were found to have been entered on
Alliston and Kent Rds. Cash and sunglasses were stolen.
8-21-26 0337 hrs.
Officers became aware that Media PD observed a reported stolen vehicle occupied by five subjects who
were possibly attempting to steal from vehicles. Along with the stolen vehicle, a Jeep vehicle was
involved. Shortly thereafter, Officer Owens observed the Jeep traveling at a high rate of speed on the
1400 block Baltimore Pk. He attempted to stop the Jeep, and after a pursuit, the Jeep crashed on the
property of St. Kevin 200 block W. Sproul Rd. and the driver fled. At about 0720 hrs., Officer Graff found
a male subject fitting the description of the driver on Sproul Rd. and took him into custody. The jeep was
found to have been stolen from Glenside, PA. The male was identified as 16 yrs. old from Philadelphia.
Charges for Receiving Stolen Property and traffic offenses will be filed.
8-21-26 1234 hrs.
Officers were called to the 300 block Rambling Wy. to investigate a crash and the driver slumped over
the wheel. The driver was found to be semi-conscious from an opioid overdose and was found in
possession of a quantity of suspected fentanyl. The driver was transported to a hospital for treatment
and will be charged with DUI and drug offenses.
8-21-26 2121 hrs.
Nelson Miller, 26 yrs. old from Springfield, was arrested and charged with Assault after an incident on
the 200 block Maple St.
8-22-26 1854 hrs.
Officer investigated a male subject loitering inside the Giant Store 900 block Baltimore Pk. and urinating
in an aisle. Officers located the 39 yr. old male from Chester and found him to be intoxicated. He was
taken onto custody and will be charged with Disorderly Conduct and Public Drunkenness.

We've seen an uptick in attempted thefts from unlocked vehicles in town over the last week, and stolen vehicles driving through town. Overnight we pursued a vehicle, which crashed near St. Kevin. The driver fled on foot.

A juvenile male was later taken into custody. Please continue to lock car doors and immediately report suspicious activity. We appreciate the help provided by the multiple assisting police departments.

🚨 On today’s date, around 2:15am, an alert resident called 911 to report two suspicious males on the 400 block of Wayne Ave. Both suspected of stealing from vehicles. The males fled from police. One was taken into custody on Kent Rd. An involved vehicle was pursued, but not stopped.

A short time ago, while attempting to take a wanted person into custody on Ridgewood Rd during a traffic stop, the person ran from officers. He was apprehended on Rambling Way after a brief foot chase. There is no danger to the community and no one was injured.
