This is a reminder that the Below Dam Recreation Area has updated hours and is open to the public from 5am-9pm daily.

Night fishing is permitted, however all vehicles must be moved to other locations before the park closes at 9pm.

This decision was made with public safety, park property, and available staffing and resources in mind.

Alum Creek staff thanks you for working with us a we balance limited resources and visitor services.

Every 5 years a team of inspectors complete a Periodic Inspection of the dam to ensure it can continue operating as designed.

We have received a directive to increase the outflow to maximum, which is 5.24 feet.

We have received a directive to begin releasing stored water at noon on 28 May 2026.

Alum Creek is dedicated to providing safe, clean, and enjoyable facilities for our wonderful visitors. The below dam recreation area is a day use area, similar to other parks in the area. In order to best serve our visitors and maintain our facilities to the highest standard possible, we are installing automatic gates. By Memorial Day, we will begin closing the Below Dam Area at 9pm daily, and re-opening at 5 am. Night fishing is still permitted, but will need to use other parking areas. We thank all of you as we work to balance limited resources and visitor services.

Recent storms took a toll on Maple shelters roof, today it got an upgrade. Hopefully the metal roof will reduce the workload, so our team can focus on other projects.
