✅PROJECT COMPLETE✅| New I-25 auxiliary lanes improve safety and traffic flow in Colorado Springs

Crews have substantially completed improvements along I-25 between Fillmore Street and Garden of the Gods Road in Colorado Springs.
In addition to the added lanes, the project included resurfacing I-25, curve slope adjustments to improve roadway drainage, the addition of concrete median barrier, and several safety-critical bridge improvements, including the reconstruction and widening of the I-25 bridges over Ellston Street and repairs to the bridge deck on the Garden of the Gods Road overpass.

The intelligent transportation system infrastructure was upgraded, including fiber optics and ramp-metering equipment. These improvements allow traffic conditions to be monitored and help adjust ramp-meter timing to better manage traffic flow and reduce backups.

✅PROJECT COMPLETE✅| Diverging diamond interchange at CO 21 Powers Boulevard and Airport Road in Colorado Springs

The new configuration, which carries Airport Road traffic over Powers Boulevard, has already improved mobility and reduced congestion. Periodic lane closures and traffic shifts are expected through October as crews complete the remaining work.

The DDI design will address congestion, improve safety and add multimodal facilities that provide a safer, more comfortable travel experience for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists. Similar interchanges have been constructed at Fillmore Street and I-25, Research Parkway and Powers Boulevard, and several other locations across Colorado.

⚠️TRAVEL ALERT⚠️ | Full closures of I-25 E. Frontage Road south of WCR 32 on 10/1/2026

Crews will temporarily close the I-25 E. Frontage Road, south of Weld County Road 32, starting Thursday (10/1) at 7 a.m., through Friday (10/9) at 5 p.m.

Crews will mill, grade, repave and stripe both lanes of the Frontage Road between WCR 32 and Camelot Circle. Access to nearby businesses will be maintained, and viable detour routes and speed limit reductions will be posted. Please note that construction is site- and weather-dependent, which may impact construction operation and duration.

📢PROJECT NEWS📢 | Fairplay Mobility Hub improvements project has begun

🗺WHERE? The project is located on Colorado Highway 9 (Main Street) at Mile Point 65.3 where it intersects with 4th Street.

🚜WHAT? The project will include construction of a new transit stop with bus loading and unloading areas, a passenger waiting zone, ADA-compliant sidewalks and ramps, a new parking lot, internal circulation improvements, and associated drainage and lighting infrastructure. Work is expected to be completed late 2026.

⚠️TRAVEL IMPACTS: Working hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to noon on Fridays. Various shoulder closures and some single lane closures will be in place within the work zone. Motorists are urged to drive with caution, heed all signs and leave plenty of following distance when traveling through the area. Construction schedules could change depending on the weather.

🔸Tonight, Sept. 27, crews will conduct two traffic shifts on westbound I-70. Crews will shift westbound I-70 east of Hidden Valley (Exit 243), north toward the outside shoulder to complete construction in the median area, and crews will shift westbound I-70 west of Hidden Valley (Exit 243) north onto the newly completed bridge over Clear Creek to complete construction in the median area. 🔸8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 27, through Thursday, Oct. 1 - Expect overnight, single-lane closures on westbound I-70 between US 6 (Exit 244) and Idaho Springs (Exit 241) for traffic shifts, barrier set and signage removal.

🔸 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday, Sept. 28 - Expect an overnight, right-lane closure on eastbound I-70 between US 6 (Exit 244) and Hidden Valley (Exit 243) for crews to set barrier.

✅PROJECT COMPLETE✅| Resurfacing of US 160 west of Walsenburg

The project improved approximately 11 miles along US 160 west of Walsenburg from the US 160/CO 12 intersection to near Main Street in Walsenburg. Roadway work included milling old asphalt, paving with new asphalt, bridge deck repairs, road sign replacement, updated pavement marking and striping.

Work began April 6 and was completed late September.
