Best Friends Mentoring Program At the Best Friends Mentoring Program, our mission is to connect youth to supportive mentors who guide, encourage, and empower.

We envision a world where every child’s potential is recognized and amplified by caring mentors in their community. The Best Friends Mentoring Program (BFMP) is one of the largest mentoring programs in North Dakota and matches screened and trained adult role models with youth seeking positive adult guidance and friendship. BFMP has two mentoring initiatives:

1. School-based mentoring matches adul

t volunteers ages 16+ with students at area elementary, junior high, and high schools to meet one-on-one during the school day.

2. Community-based mentoring matches adult volunteers ages 18+ with youth to meet one-on-one outside of school hours. In 2015, nearly 230 kids went through juvenile court in our community; nearly 100 were placed in out-of-home care and 147 "new kids in town" had to learn an entirely new language and culture. Who can kids in tough situations look to for extra support and guidance? If you were their mentor, they would look to you -- for advice, guidance, a listening ear, help with school work and most of all, to be their most trusted friend.

Are you interested in giving back to your community through mentoring? We are looking for volunteer coaches to be mentors in small group settings of 3-5 kids. Coaches will help participants build confidence, set personal goals, and learn about healthy lifestyles through activities and small group discussions.
