Today marks 40 years since Bucks County Sheriff’s Deputies Thomas A. Bateman and George M. Warta Jr. lost their lives in the line of duty.

On September 22, 1986, Deputies Bateman and Warta were returning to their patrol area after completing a prisoner transport when they were killed in a traffic accident on Street Road in Warrington Township.

We continue to honor the two deputies who gave their lives in service to our community and remember the near decade of service each gave to the residents of Bucks County.

Today, we ask our community to join us in remembering Deputy Bateman and Deputy Warta, and to keep their families and former colleagues in your thoughts.

This weekend, the Bucks County Sheriff’s Office joined Levittown Fire Co. # 2 for its annual 5K and Family Fun Day.

Our deputies spent the day printing free Emergency Child IDs, and members of our K-9 Unit gave families a look at how our dogs and their handlers work together in the field. Families also got an up-close look at the work of Levittown’s first responders, with fire safety and vehicle rescue demonstrations as well as a medical helicopter landing on site.

With Fire Prevention Month right around the corner, there are plenty more opportunities coming up to meet your local first responders and learn about fire safety. Check our page for upcoming events near you.

Fire Prevention Month is right around the corner, and fire companies across Bucks County are getting ready to welcome the community for open houses, safety demonstrations, and activities for the whole family.

The Bucks County Sheriff’s Office will be joining local fire companies at the events listed below. Look for the Child ID icon to see where our deputies will be printing free Emergency Child IDs.

Find an event near you to meet some of your local first responders, learn a few important fire safety tips, and enjoy a day with the community. We hope to see you there.

25 years ago, first responders from across America sped to Ground Zero to assist in the effort to recover survivors. One of those extraordinarily courageous responders was Deputy Chuck Golder, now a Sergeant in our department. Sergeant Golder's selfless service that day continues to inspire new generations of Deputies.

The BCSO remembers and honors those responders who made the ultimate sacrifice running into the fire and wreckage to save as many lives as they could. We also will never abandon our fellow emergency personnel who are still suffering from the lasting physical and mental health effects they incurred working at Ground Zero, including cancer, respiratory disease, and post-traumatic stress disorder. While 25 years may seem like a lifetime ago, some of our most courageous citizens are still suffering and deserve our continued support.

Congratulations to Bucks County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Zeke on completing a national explosives detection training program with the Bureau of Alcohol, To***co, Fi****ms and Explosives (ATF).

The ATF travels across the country to train and validate K-9 teams on their ability to detect ten different types of explosives, using the latest research and standards from its national laboratory.

Today we held a promotional ceremony for Corporal Pat Weiler.

As part of the promotion process, each applicant was asked who in the office they thought was most deserving of becoming a corporal. Every single deputy listed Corporal Weiler among their top three choices. That hard-earned respect speaks volumes about the leader Corporal Weiler has become within our office.

Join us in congratulating Corporal Weiler on his promotion. Bucks County is lucky to have him!

Congratulations to Deputy Ricardo Romana on graduating from the intensive 19-week Pennsylvania Sheriff Deputy’s Academy at Penn State!

The Academy consists of 760 hours of training, covering everything from crisis management and fi****ms safety to ethics and tactical first aid.

Before joining the Bucks County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Romana served in the United States Marine Corps. He brought that same determination to the Academy, working through a physical condition from his military service with relentless dedication and persistence.

We’re proud to have Deputy Romana back in Bucks County and know he will serve our community exceptionally well. Please join us in congratulating him on this accomplishment!

Join the Bucks County Sheriff’s Office at St. Ann’s Italian Festival & Carnival in Bristol Borough this week!

Our deputies will be there Thursday and Friday night, printing free Emergency Child IDs and issuing License to Carry permits for $20.
