We are strategically placed throughout the city limits with 8 stations. These stations are occupied and ready to respond 365 days a year, 24 hours a

day. The DFD is well trained in all aspects of a modern day professional Firefighting Force. We are ready to fight fire, respond to medical emergencies, car accidents, perform technical rescue, confined space, hazardous material incidents, fire prevention and investigations, and anything else we may encounter. The Building Safety Division has also joined the Fire Department to provide life safety through progressive building and housing code enforcement. Community partnerships make a lasting impact, and this week we'd like to extend our sincere gratitude to Adolfson & Peterson Construction for their incredible generosity.

Through their annual bean bag tournament held at Clyde Iron Works, Adolphson & Peterson raised and donated an astounding $11,000 to the Duluth Fire Foundation as well as $11,000 to the Duluth Police Foundation.

The Duluth Fire Foundation exists to support Duluth firefighters and enrich the community they serve by helping bridge funding gaps in critical areas including life-saving equipment, advanced training opportunities, community outreach programs, youth education, and support for firefighters and their families during times of extreme hardship.

This donation will help ensure our firefighters have access to resources that strengthen their ability to serve, protect, educate, and connect with our community. It is partnerships like these that make a meaningful difference both inside the fire service and throughout the City of Duluth.

Thank you to Adolphson & Peterson Construction, everyone who participated in the tournament, and all those who contributed to its success. Your commitment to giving back helps make our community stronger, safer, and more connected.

A big thank you to the Miller Hill Mall for inviting the Duluth Fire Department to participate in today's Badges & Ladders Storytime event!

It was a privilege to spend part of our day with so many wonderful children, sharing stories, answering questions, and giving a behind-the-scenes look at what firefighters and police officers do to serve our community. Events like these provide a meaningful opportunity to connect with young minds, build positive relationships, and help children feel comfortable with the people who are here to help when they need us most.

We appreciate everyone who stopped by, listened to a story, asked questions, and shared smiles with us. šŸš’šŸ“ššŸ‘®

Today, we celebrate the dads of the Duluth Fire Department.

The ones who spend birthdays, holidays, ball games, and bedtime stories serving their community, all while working tirelessly to be the fathers their children look up to.

To all of our DFD dads: thank you for the example you set, the love you give, and the sacrifices you make—both at home and on the job.

Happy Father’s Day to all the incredible fathers in our department and throughout our community. ā¤ļøšŸš’

A-Shift held a competition for time using a 24’ single person ladder throw and masking drill and FF Jaxon Edwards blew the previous time to beat of 1:02 out of the water with a time of 0:56 seconds!

Nice work Jaxon!

Yesterday, we gathered to celebrate one of the most meaningful traditions in the fire service — the Duluth Fire Department Pinning Ceremony.

While a badge, bugles, or a new rank may seem like a simple symbol, what they represent is anything but simple. Behind every promotion and every firefighter completing probation are countless hours of training, studying, sacrifice, and perseverance. They represent early mornings, late nights, missed family moments, physical and mental challenges, and an unwavering commitment to becoming better for their team and the community they serve.

For those that have completed probation, it marks the end of a demanding journey and the beginning of a lifelong commitment to the fire service. It signifies that they have earned the trust of their peers and demonstrated the character, dedication, and professionalism expected of a Duluth firefighter.

For those being promoted, this moment reflects years of hard work, leadership, and a continued desire to serve at a higher level. Promotion is more than a new title, it is a responsibility to lead, mentor, and set the standard for those who follow.

The pinning itself carries special meaning. It is often performed by family members, friends, or mentors who have supported these individuals every step of the way. It serves as a reminder that no firefighter reaches these milestones alone. Behind every successful firefighter is a network of people who have sacrificed alongside them.

Today, we celebrate not only the achievement, but the journey it took to get here.

Congratulations to all those who were pinned. We are proud to stand beside you as you continue your careers with the Duluth Fire Department.

Despite putting up a hard fight, our DFD crew was no match for the mighty 3rd graders of Laura MacArthur Elementary School during their end-of-year Field Day tug-of-war competition!

The students brought the energy, determination, and teamwork—and in the end, they pulled off the victory. We may have lost the battle, but we had an absolute blast helping celebrate the last days of school with such an incredible group of kids
