Elm Street End of Day Pick Up Procedure

Elm Street School uses School Dismissal Manager for much of our school communication with parents. If you are a returning parent, you should already have the app. If not, there will be instructions sent home on the first day with that info.

Here are some general guidelines-

Traffic is ONE WAY at Elm. You must enter from 191 and exit onto the Hadley Lake Road.

USING THE APP-
Enter the school lot, park, and dismiss your child with the app.
A staff member will es**rt your child to your vehicle (grades pre-K - 5).
Once you have all of your children, exit the school lot.
If your child has forgotten something- Wait until you have all of your children and then walk them into the school. Please do not send them back across the busy parking lot unattended.

WITHOUT THE APP-
Enter the school lot, park, and enter the main entrance to the office.
Communicate with the office who you are picking up.
Wait in the hall next to the office until your child/children have been brought to you.
No parents should go down or up the halls until all students have been dismissed.

There will be bumps to be smoothed out the first week. Please be patient as we ensure the safety of all students.

We just got the word from Bucket -- the East Machias smokehouse, at the foot of Pope Memorial Bridge on the intersection between Route 1 and Water Street in East Machias -- is full of freshly smoked mackerel our 7th and 8th graders caught on Thursday. They are free on a first come, first served basis
Come grab a few before they are gone!

On Friday Bucket rounded up some of our 7th and 8th graders for their first summer vacation mackerel fishing trip. We'd like to thank him and all of the chaperones for taking these kids out on the water, and especially Eastport Windjammers for their hospitality.

Stop by the East Machias Smokehouse under the bridge at the intersection of Water Street and Route 1 for some free freshly smoked mackerel anytime starting today (Sunday 8/9).

Bucket is also working on another trip for the kids in last year's 7th and 8th grade who didn't get to go, so parents, please keep your phone close by!

Here is the 2026-2027 School Supply Letter for Grades 6-8. If you see another letter from 6-8, check the date as it may be last year's letter. That letter has been deleted now, but just in case...
