Western Maine Community Action Inc The organization is dedicated to the principle that poverty should not be a permanent condition of people’s lives.

Established in 1965, Western Maine Community Action (WMCA) is a social service agency that has been providing assistance to low- and mid-income families living in the western mountain region of Maine. WMCA is able to respond quickly and effectively to the variety of needs of our disadvantaged population. We strive to marshal as many resources as possible in our efforts to provide comprehensive ser

vices responsive to conditions. The majority of our services are designed to assist low to moderate-income people in Franklin, Androscoggin and Oxford counties. Federal Non-Discrimination Statement

📣Check your mail!

Our partners at the Office for Family Independence () are sending MaineCare Expansion members—adults who are between 19 and 64 years old and don't meet Social Security disability guidelines or have Medicare—an outreach letter this week about the upcoming changes to MaineCare eligibility happening in 2027.

Members who have opted in to e-noticing should receive the letter in their My Maine Connection accounts this week. Paper letters are also being mailed this week to members not opted into e-noticing.

MaineCare members with certain immigration statuses were recently mailed a letter from Office for Family Independence (OFI). The letter explains changes in these members' MaineCare eligibility which will take effect October 1st, 2026. Members can call OFI at 1-855-797-4357 if they need their letter translated, or view translated versions of the letter at the link in our bio.

All children under 21 and people who are pregnant or up to 12 months postpartum can keep their MaineCare coverage, regardless of their immigration status.

Didn't receive a letter, but wonder if the changes may apply to you? Call the Consumer Assistance HelpLine at 1-800-965-7476.

🚗 MaineCare covers Non-Emergency Transportation (NET) for eligible members. You may get a ride to your MaineCare-covered appointment or have your ride reimbursed by MaineCare.

‼️Make sure to make an appointment at least 2 business days in advance and check that it is covered by MaineCare and approved by the transportation broker.

❓What if I have a complaint?
Contact the transportation broker in your region and file a complaint. If you would like a response from the broker, you must request a follow-up call or a response in writing. If you are not satisfied with the response, you can call MaineCare Member Services at 1-800-977-6740 and request to file a complaint against the broker.
