2926 Rural Health Scholars presentation at the Tisbury Council on Aging yesterday concluded two weeks of hard work and research of the UMass Chan medical students that focused on continuum of care and barriers to collaborating on Martha’s Vineyard. The full presentation and recommendations will be posted on the Dukes County Health Council website. Thank you to the Rural Scholars coordinating team and all who participated in this multi agency workshop and activities to strengthen collaboration among island health and human services providers.

On Saturday, March 14th, MV Wellness held a chili Alfa gal/vegetarian cooking session at The Farm Institute with Chef Adam from Black Sheep. Both Beth and Diane from the County offices attended. It was a wonderful event and a tasty one as well. We look forward to more soup cooking sessions.

At the request of the Martha’s Vineyard Public Schools, Sarah Kuh and Brianna Bertoni from Dukes County Health Care Access gave an in-person presentation last week to more than 50 adult ESL (English as a second language) participants. They shared information about accessing public health insurance, medical care, and other services available through Dukes County.

We are grateful for the opportunity to connect community members with resources that support their health and well-being.

Due to ongoing impacts from the winter storm and continued power outages across town, warming centers in Oak Bluffs will be open today from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

These centers are available to anyone in need of a warm, safe place to rest and recharge.

SSA INTERVIEWS RESCHEDULED
The Dukes County Commission has rescheduled the interviews of the 3 finalists for appointment as Martha's Vineyard's representative to the SSA Board.

The new date is Tuesday, March 3rd at 4PM.

The interviews will be conducted in-person at the MV Hebrew Center in Vineyard Haven. The public is invited to attend and a zoom link for remote public viewing is posted on the county's calendar at dukescounty.gov.

This meeting will be for interviews by commissioners and possible deliberations only. Suggestions for questions are being accepted at [email protected] until 12PM March 2nd (the day before). The county cannot promise that a suggested question will
be asked.
There will be no public comment period.
