Edna Lions Club Lions Club International's motto is We Serve.

As part of Lions Club International we support various charities including SightFirst, an international club effort to eradicate blindness throughout the world, the Lions' Crippled Children's Camp in Kerrville, Texas, as well as several local projects. We raise funds for these benefits through various fund raising functions throughout the year, including chili suppers, golf tournaments, and turkey sales.

The Edna Lions Club recently awarded the Jack Wiech Fellowship award to Lion Mike Myers. The Jack Wiech Fellowship, established in 1994, is to pay tribute to the founder of the Texas Lions Camp, Lion Jack Wiech. This outstanding Lion organized and chartered the Camp in 1949, which was dedicated "to the perpetual use, enjoyment and rehabilitation of the crippled children of Texas". Over 65,000 Texas children with physical disabilities, Type-1 diabetes and cancer attended the one-week-long residential Camp at no cost to the parents. Lion Jack Wiech served as the President of the Camp for the first five years and was a permanent member of the Board of Directors. Because of Lion Mike’s dedication and service, the Edna Lions Club felt him worthy and deserving of this award. Today, Edna Lions Beau, Austin Sommerfeld, attained the rank of Eagle Scout. Pictured below left, Austin is being inducted as Eagle Scout by his Scoutmaster of Troop 138, William Reeves. Pictured below right, Austin is being presented with a certificate & United States flag from Congressman Michael Cloud, US House Representative, Texas' 27th Congressional District. Making the presentation is Christian Palacios, Field Representative for Cloud. Austin is an Edna High School Senior and the son of Justin and Elizabeth Sommerfeld. Congratulations Austin!

Lion President William Reeves was recently presented certificates for completing different levels of training as Scoutmaster for BSA Troop #138. The Edna Lions Club team enjoyed another year participating in the Eleanor Brackenridge Literary Club's Annual trivia night. While the team did not place, it was a fun time. Funds raised from this event go to providing scholarships to students in each of the county's high schools.
