Edna Police Department Official Edna Police Dept page The agency is comprised of ten full time sworn officers. The agency has two designated reserve officer positions.

The Edna Police Department is a small but professional police agency dedicated to serving the citizen's of Edna and everyone who comes to the city. The chief of police, who is appointed and directed by the city manager, directs two Lieutenant Detectives, one Sergeant/School Resource Officer, and six patrol officers. The police chief also directs one animal control officer and one records clerk.

School starts Wednesday August 12th

We ask everyone slow down, stay alert, and help keep our kids safe.

Remember to obey all school zone speed limits. Watch for kids walking at crosswalks, getting on and off the school buses.

Do not pass school buses with stop sign and blinking lights on.

Be patient with school traffic and buses.

Right turn only will be enforced on Country Club Rd. & Apollo during posted times.

Our officers will be out monitoring traffic and in the schools to help monitor the first day to keep our kids safe.

Traffic Stop leads to two arrests.

During the early hours of July 12th 2026, Officers with the Edna Police Department and Jackson County Sheriff's Office, conducted a traffic stop that resulted in the arrest of two individuals.

5.02 oz of ma*****na, other narcotics, and a loaded AK-style handgun were seized.

This investigation remains active. All individuals involved are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

On June 9, 2026, 23 year old Benito Barajas Jr. of Lockhart, TX was arrested and charged with Online Solicitation of a Minor – Sexual Conduct.

The investigation resulted in the collection of evidence that led to the filing of the charge. Benito Barajas Jr. was taken into custody and booked into the Jackson County Adult Dentention Center.

The Edna Police Department remains committed to protecting children and aggressively investigating crimes involving the exploitation of minors.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
