August 15th, Saturday
Ascarate Fishing Club: We are pleased to announce our free children fishing tournament on August 15th Saturday, designed for children aged 3 to 16 years.
Registration will take place at Ascarate park at the pavilion, from 7:30 to 9:30, registration is only available on the day of the tournament. Please note that registration is mandatory prior to participation. The first 100 children will receive complimentary T-shirts. We will provide poles and bait; your participation is all we require. Poles are available for loan, requiring a parent's driver's license as collateral, which will be returned upon the pole's return.
The first horn, sounding around 11:30, will signal that the fishing part of the derby is almost over. If you have not measured your fish by then, please do so promptly. As this is a catch-and-release tournament, it is advisable to measure your catch as you go. The second horn, sounding around noon, will mark the end of the fishing segment.
And all measurements must be taken by a club member stationed across the street from the pavilion. Lunch will be served to participating children and families after all tallies are in, around 12:30. Awards and prizes for the longest fish will be presented to groups aged 3-6, 7-12, and 13-16.
We encourage you to allow your children to fish with minimal assistance. If your child is a novice, we will provide guidance.
We continue to host fundraising events to support our non-profit activities for our tournament to give children the opportunity to learn to fish and bring families to enjoy the outdoors.
We kindly request donations we are continuing our fundraising efforts for the Lew's X-Finity spinning rod with donations of $40.
We will also have a donation table out front with lots of fishing equipment.
This event presents an excellent opportunity to create lasting memories with your family.
Please note poles need to be returned at the pavilion at noon.
We look forward to seeing you at the lake.
