The El Paso County Parks & Recreation Department was pleased to host a ceremony for veterans who participated in the PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) program at the Ascarate Golf Course on Tuesday, August 15. The event included a celebratory lunch after participants completed their 6- week program.
PGA HOPE is the flagship military program of PGA REACH, the charitable foundation of the PGA of America. The program introduces golf to Veterans with disabilities to enhance their physical, mental, social and emotional well-being. Programming is free to all Veterans and is funded by PGA REACH and supplemented by PGA Section Foundations.
Veterans who are interested in participating in the PGA HOPE program can visit www.gatewaypga.org/military.
Join us this Friday, August 18 at Estrella Park for the rescheduled Parks After Sunset Movie. We will be showing Top Gun: Maverick! Don't forget to bring your chairs and blankets.
The movie will begin at sundown (approx. 8:30pm)
Today a ribbon cutting was held for the Risinger All-inclusive playground in El Paso County.
An all-inclusive playground is a space that provides inclusive play opportunities for children of all ages and abilities. They are designed to promote the healthy development of all children’s physical, social, cognitive, and sensory abilities.

It's back to school, but summer is not over just yet. All County Pools have adjusted their public swim hours.
Monday through Friday: 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.,
Saturdays and Sundays: 12 p.m. - 5 p.m.,
These hours will be in effect until Labor Day, Monday, September 4th. Pool hours are subject to change in the event of any issues that may arise and/or inclement weather conditions.
On this day four years ago, tragedy struck our bi-national community and 23 innocent lives were lost along with countless others victimized by domestic terrorism.
The August 3rd tragedy did not cripple our community but made us stronger together.
We will never forget...We will stand united, we are EL PASO STRONG!
In memory of the 23 loved ones lost on August 3, 2019, El Paso County and our community partners will host a series of remembrance tributes and ceremonies.
El Paso County will host a reading of the names and an unveiling of 23 lighted beams at the El Paso County Healing Garden located inside Ascarate Park, 6900 Delta. The ceremony will begin at 8:00 pm.
We invite the community to attend the many programs in honor of the victims taking place tomorrow, August 3rd.

Due to the high temperatures that are forecasted for the coming days/week, we will be postponing our Bear-foot in the Park event for the safety of our future campers and staff.

Ascarate's big lake received about 2,000 lbs of catfish in the evening hours yesterday, June 15!
A friendly reminder that anyone 17 years and up is required to have a Texas Fishing license.
Park hours are 5:30am to 11pm daily.
In observance of the Juneteenth Holiday, all El Paso County administrative offices will be closed Monday, June 19th. Regular business hours will resume Tuesday, June 20th.
El Paso County Commissioners Court will not meet on Monday and will resume County business at the following meeting in regular session on Monday, June 26th, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
