Meet Tinker! 🐾

Tinker is a 3-year-old Beagle mix weighing 34 pounds and she is truly the total package! 💕 This sweet girl is housebroken, great with other dogs, okay with cats, loves children, and enjoys meeting new people. She’s incredibly smart, knows basic commands, is a great car rider, and has the perfect mix of playful energy and cuddly affection.
Tinker recently went on a Dog Day Out, and her volunteer had nothing but amazing things to say—calling her a phenomenal dog and even the best dog ever! 🥹

If you’re looking for a loving, well-rounded companion who’s ready to fit right into your family, Tinker may just be your perfect match. Come meet her today! ❤️

Huge shoutout to Raymond Storage! 🐾❤️

They spent time volunteering at the shelter today, walking several of our adoptable dogs, giving them lots of love and attention, and even jumping in to help with cleaning. We are so incredibly thankful for the support of our community and for businesses like Raymond Storage that take the time to make a difference for our shelter animals.

Your kindness, hard work, and compassion mean so much to us—and to the animals in our care. Thank you for helping make their day a little brighter! 🐶✨

If your business or group is interested in volunteering at the shelter, we would love to have you! Please email [email protected] or call (270) 769-3428 for more information.

Lately we've been trying hard to spread the word about our foster program and our need for people with compassion and a little extra space in their home.

We are in the middle of kitten season and already have around 40 kittens in foster homes and a couple dozen more that are still in need.
Many of our kittens are orphaned and too little to be here while others come in sick or unsocialized and just need a little extra attention.

We wanted to take a moment to share an update on the progress some of our current foster babies that are not yet available but are making great improvements.

If you think you can be a hero to some of our babies in need please follow the link below and call the shelter with any questions you may have at 270-769-3428

Dog Day Out gives our pups a break from the shelter, helps them build confidence, and provides valuable information about how they do in a home and community setting.

Thor's Dog Day Out Adventure!

Sometimes all a dog needs is a chance to step outside the shelter and show the world who they really are—and that's exactly what Thor did during his Dog Day Out!

Like many shelter dogs, Thor was a little unsure at first. New places and new experiences can be overwhelming, but as the day went on, this sweet puppy began to relax and let his personality shine. He enjoyed exploring a home environment, meeting new canine friends, and spending time with people who offered him patience, guidance, and reassurance.

Thor showed interest in other dogs, did well around children, and paid little attention to a resident kitten. He especially seemed to gain confidence when he had a calm, trusted person nearby to help him navigate new situations.

One of the most important things we learned is that Thor is very different outside of the shelter environment. While the noise and stress of the kennel can make him appear reactive, in a home setting he was a curious, social puppy who simply wants to learn about the world around him.

Thor is looking for a family that understands puppies need time, structure, training, and patience. With consistency and love, we believe he will blossom into an amazing companion. He enjoys companionship, wants to build trust, and is eager to continue growing in confidence.

Thor isn't a "perfect" puppy—he's a real puppy. He's learning, exploring, and figuring out his place in the world. What he needs now is a family willing to guide him along the way.

Could you be the one to help Thor become the dog he's meant to be? ❤️🐶

🎉 Exciting News for Pappaw! 🎉

Our sweet senior boy, Pappaw, just got an incredible boost on his journey to finding a loving retirement home!

A huge thank you to Steven Gibson, Realtor with the Clinkenbeard Extreme Team RE/MAX Group, for generously sponsoring Pappaw's adoption fee! ❤️

Best Friends Animal Society heard Pappaw's story and completely fell in love with him. They have graciously offered to contribute $125 toward Pappaw's first veterinary visit with his adopter! 🐾

This means there has never been a better time to give this deserving senior cat the forever home he's been waiting for. Pappaw dreams of sunny windowsills, cozy laps, and a family to love him through his golden years.

Could you be the one to make his dream come true?
