πŸŒοΈβ›³ Day 2 of our BBBS Golf Mini-Camp was filled with valuable lessons both on and off the course! Thanks to the continued support of the Kiwanis Club of Greater Flint, our Littles spent the day learning important aspects of the game that go beyond hitting the ball.

Participants explored scoring, course care, pace of play, and sportsmanship, gaining a deeper understanding of what it means to be a respectful and responsible golfer.

One of the highlights of the day was learning how to properly replace divots and care for the course, reinforcing the importance of respecting shared spaces and taking pride in the environment around them. Youth were also recognized and rewarded when they demonstrated positive golf etiquette, good sportsmanship, and respect for their fellow golfers.

These lessons extend far beyond the golf course. By practicing courtesy, responsibility, and integrity, our youth are developing character traits that will serve them well in school, relationships, and future careers.

A special thank you to Brendan Silpoch, Director of the Flint Junior Golf Association, for his leadership and instruction throughout the camp, and to Swartz Creek Municipal Golf Course for graciously hosting this three-day experience for our youth.
We are excited for our final day on the course and all that our young golfers will continue to learn!

πŸŒοΈβ›³ Day 1 of our BBBS Golf Mini-Camp was a great success!

Thanks to the generous support of the Kiwanis Club of Greater Flint, our Littles had the opportunity to begin learning the game of golf while building confidence, character, and valuable life skills.

Today focused on putting fundamentals, where participants learned proper stance, grip, aim, and how to control distance on the green. It was exciting to watch our youth practice their skills, encourage one another, and gain confidence with every putt.

As golfers say, "Drive for show, putt for dough!" They may not be driving yet, but our young golfers are already learning one of the most important parts of the game. Through putting, they are developing focus, patience, perseverance, and self-confidence both on and off the course.

A special thank you to Brendan Silpoch, Director of the Flint Junior Golf Association, for coordinating this wonderful experience and introducing our youth to the game of golf in a fun and supportive environment.

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to Swartz Creek Municipal Golf Course for generously hosting this three-day camp. Your partnership provides our youth with a welcoming environment to learn, grow, and experience the game of golf, and we are grateful for your support of our mentoring mission.

We look forward to another great day of learning and growth on the course!

According to the , 84% of young adults say mentorship helped them see possibilities they never would have found on their own. That’s the power of having someone in your corner.

At Big Brothers Big Sisters, mentors help open doors, offer encouragement, and walk alongside young people as they navigate school, work, and life.
