TONIGHT:
We'll be hopping on a Facebook Live with Metro Community Development!
We will be speaking to Flint SOUP alumni Kids Like Mine, The Poke Bowl, Snacky Brown LLC, and ACS Cleaning Services (
https://www.acscleaningservicesmi.com/) to talk about their business journey and how they brought their idea to life.
HIGHLIGHT:
Congratulations to brothers Antwan Johnson and Phillip Teer-Johnson, Co-owners of Slice of Flint, for winning our August 4th-Flint SOUP Community Micro-Grant of $1,500 (Ps. The coffee cup holds the SOUP micro-grant funds)!
Antwan plans on using the micro-grant funding to purchase a larger refrigeration unit to increase pizza production and efficiency.
Special thanks to the Mott Foundation and First Presbyterian Church of Flint for your continued support of Flint SOUP events and activities!
Overview:
Antwan Johnson is an entrepreneur with an unsinkable spirit! He's the Co-owner and operator of Slice of Flint, a food trailer offering extra large portions of fire baked pizza! Antwan has been in business for two years, and worked with the Flint & Genesee Group, Michigan SBDC, and Metro Community Development to bring his dream to life.
He had planned to start in a building, but covid changed everything. If he couldn't start in a kitchen, he'd just have to make one himself! He began with a simple barrel grill and built the rest of his business from the ground up—literally!
Antwan embodies a lean mindset, and constructed his own custom trailer—piece by piece—equipped with a licensed kitchen and wood fire oven! Now he sells out every day, as customers line up for a taste of his NY style pizza with a Flint flair!

RSVP: August 4th - Flint SOUP Community Micro-Grant Event
$5 to attend. All funds collected during the night go toward the micro-grant that will be awarded at the end of the event that received the most votes!

The Official Beats x Beers Weekend Recap. The entire weekend was legendary! This all started as a name idea (Beats x BBQ) that Martie Bowser came up with. We took it and built it out from there. To look at that idea then and see what it has become today is still mind blowing for me. I'm just a product of sticking to my plan/purpose, consistency, & hard work. Can't wait to announce everything else that's on the way. Thank you all for a very dope weekend, Beats x BBQ will return in 2023. 🍻

Had this idea for a while and I'm glad we were finally able to bring it to life. 'A Brunch of Creatives' was amazing.. the energy, the people, the food, etc etc. All of it! Special thank you to Metro Community Development & 100K Ideas. 🍻

A Brunch of Creatives was so amazing…. And that might be an understatement. Inspiration and vibes at its finest. Thank you Chef Chloe Scott, The Capitol Theatre, Metro Community Development, 100K Ideas, Beats x Beers staff, I Am My Billboard, Spectacular Spudz, and everybody that came. Legendary times. 🍻
Did you know Serenity House is now located in the Metro Community Development building suites on Robert T Longway? This little urban island is home to BIPOC owned small businesses, too. The Shelter of Flint will soon host its community outreach here as well.
Metro Community Development, kudos!
Great things happening in Flint.
