For this week’s Fridays in the Field, we’re heading to Crossroads Village to spotlight one of our most unique events of the season—Curious at Crossroads: Oddities Fest!

Are you in for the wildly weird, the seriously strange, and the downright peculiar? Then this is the weekend for you! Explore a fascinating collection of oddities vendors and discover the bizarre and unusual around every corner.

Be sure to stop by Clayton Township Hall, which will be transformed into 1313 Mockingbird Lane with a recreated Munsters living room display. While you're there, meet special guest Butch Patrick, better known as Eddie Munster from the original TV series The Munsters. He'll be on-site throughout the weekend with merchandise available for purchase, along with two iconic pieces of Munsters history—the Dragula coffin car and Eddie Munster's Chopper motorcycle.

Head out to Crossroads Village on June 20 & 21 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for a weekend full of curiosities, collectibles, celebrity appearances, and creepy fun. And if you're interested in keeping the oddities going after hours, stay late on Saturday, June 20, for a special FREE 60th Anniversary showing of Munster, Go Home! It's a delightfully peculiar weekend you won't want to miss!

For today's Fridays in the Field, we're highlighting last night's River & Roots Celebration with Keep Genesee County Beautiful and the Flint River Watershed Coalition!

This annual event celebrates the power of community partnerships while bringing neighbors together to connect with nature and one another. This year's carnival-themed celebration featured live music, games and activities, free food and drinks, opportunities to connect with local organizations making a difference throughout Genesee County, and special recognition of outstanding community members. The Flint River and Community Stewardship Golden Gloves Award, presented for the Stewardship Day event, was awarded to the individual who discovered a wooden rocking horse at Glenwood Cemetery. The Dr. Gary Pace Volunteer of the Year Award was presented to Tiffany Minder, and the Joe Leonardi Leadership Award was presented to Patricia Ramirez. Congratulations to all three recipients on these well-deserved honors!

A special thank you to all of the participating organizations that helped make this event possible: Friends of the Flint River Trail, Flint Institute of Music, For-Mar Nature Preserve & Arboretum, Wolverine Campground, Crossroads Village & Huckleberry Railroad, Genesee County Parks - State Park, Genesee County Human Resources and Labor Relations, Genesee County Metropolitan Planning Commission, Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, Crim Fitness Foundation, Gloria Coles Flint Public Library, Sloan Museum of Discovery, Motherly Intercession, Genesee Conservation District, Factory Two, Mid Michigan Therapy Dogs, and Uncle Ray's!

It was an evening filled with fun, laughter, and community spirit along the Flint River!
